Start / Internet / Xwget wget downloader Gui
screenshot (added my own preferred backgrounds - see below)
You are probably doing right and it is a server issue . . .
Can anyone with fast bandwidth check and make sure the md5sum works please . . . My so called broadband is rather slow . . .
I have provided two servers (with help) and will look into providing a bittorrent
I would recommend using wget to download as it can resume when a link is broken and is more reliable than downloading from Seamonkey
From Puppy
Start / Internet / Xwget wget downloader Gui
Has anyone been able to download?
- problem: Where can I get background images?

Apologies for the low volume
start / multimedia / puppy sound mixer may turn the volume up a bit - don't tell the fish. Basically if fish get time travel and the ability to move through dimensions, anything could happen . . .
We could have the Reign of Fish
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_of_Fishes
My wiki is down again - next time bittorrent all the way . . .
I am using Linux Tmxxine Beta now and it is very good. With Barry and Team Puppy doing the core and Warren creating the glitz of Ezpup and with a variety of SFS, I think we have the future puplets.
Take something like SimplePup (bring back SimplePup!) or TeenPup, two of my favourite Puplets.
They are excellent. Simplepup is gone to the kennel in the skies and TeenPup is based on Puppy 2.14
If however they were modeled like EZpup as a .pet, they would have a longer shelf life.
Just a thought . . .

unable to install
hello, oh grand crustacean
I have a problem, and I'm disappointed
Having seen your wonderful creation, I found a perfect partner for it at a computer fair
A P4/2600 with 512Mb ram at a bargain price of £100 (approx $195)
The only disadvantage for normal use was a 10Gb H/D, but it was intended for 'Rainbow' so no matter
Apart from having to reset the video to 60hz refresh [32Mb nvidia card] to stop multiple imaging, CD boot was fine first time.
Then came the problem.
The H/D was corrupted so I used Gparted and set up an ext2 & swap partitions, then rebooted & tried to install type 2, full H/D install
The Installer not only couldn't see my hda1 partition, it saw the hda5 [swap] partition as vfat & the only partition.!
It messaged me whether I wanted to set up superfloppy mode, with a warning against such practise. !?!
Grub installed OK & I copied the relevant files to where pupsave was, as per instructions, but when I rebooted Grub [default settings] reported no such folder
Was I supposed to edit something?
Why couldn't the Installer see the hda1 as linux ext2, when it saw it as vfat before I re-partitioned it?
What do I do to get it to boot from the H/D?

Astral Dolphin Power
You bought a rainbow?
. . . gosh
Will you be joining the CPA
who don't exist . . .
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakk ... tionAgency
and naming you computer OZ1 Rainbow (pronounced "Ozzi")?
Keep your Rainbow Oz1 CPA compliant by use of this judicious sticker . . .
This will enable my rainbow powered friends the astral dolphins to swim by . . .
http://peace.wikia.com/wiki/Peace_penguins
meanwhile in the so called real world . . .
try here
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/HDDInstallChecklist
and use page index to find more Hard Disk install pages
I have tried
full install
frugal install
and run from CD
I run from CD (well RW-DVD actually)
so I can not really offer much help
as Tmxxine is 100% Puppy compatible some smart pup should be able to help . . .

As a businessman who used to rely on Win, I'm looking for a distro that caters to my needs. I found out that PCLOS and Puppy both do this.
Yet PCLOS with its KDE is so bloated, and SAM is dropping OOo, while Puppy has to install the OOo..sfs, until I found this Tmxxine Linux. It already has has OOo out of the box, but still lack of printer/modem drivers.
If I'm allowed to give suggestion, for the sake of "the Win refugees" could you consider:
1. Using LXDE, I like the PCManFM. Anyway they also use IceWM, and Grafpup has experience using their LXPanel. PCLOS TinyMe also will use it (please read http://www.mypclinuxos.com/index.php?op ... 96#msg8096)
2. Keep the OOo.sfs and web.sfs included, but not the dev.sfs (the developers are clever people who can install it by themself not like us)
3. Better use the space for more drivers.
Thanks.

IceWm has proven 100% reliable and has XP and Vista themes
Grafpup seems stable with LXDE
http://lxde.sourceforge.net/
CUPS I will consider
2.03CE
and PuppyPro are more suited to the business user
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/PuppyPro
the more adventurous could also try Matisse
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=AddMetisse
It is quite likely the next Beta will focus on programming languages
(If someone creates a programmer.sfs that would enable this)
as for planet Gong - here is how to get there . . .

I probably should have posted my problem here first instead of in the announcements forum.
I like rainbow very much; however, it will not allow me to start with "puppy nopcmcia' or any other 'puppy' command I typed in.
I can successfully run 216 final (with EZpup) using "puppy nopcmcia' on my AMD D700 desktop and need to run it on my Acer Aspire 5570Z laptop or the boot hangs on "loading kernel modules'.

I tried to download but get "Forbidden [403]" problem
I just tried (1 min ago) to download from the link in your very first post on this thread. I even followed the links in your sig. Any which way but lose - still get a Forbidden [403] error. Perhaps you're working on the Beta and you've taken it offline??
Code: Select all
403 Forbidden

I am very grateful that 'Previously known as Guest' is hosting Linux Tmxxine
I did have it on the Tmxxine Server, where we have the wiki and the wiki went down for two days due to server limits
So I removed that link. I am sure you will get through eventually . . .
As you are near Battersea Bridge and I too live in Wandsworth I could send you a copy, if that would help
There is nothing mysterious about Linux Tmxxine - just the latest Puppy with Ezpup and four sfs included
