Russian Puppy
Dear melvix,
I wish you luck in assembling a team. Please see the following post:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=19661
It's a very big job for the reasons given in my earlier post - but others have done it, for example, for Spanish and Vietnamese, so where there's a will, there's a way...
With kind regards,
vovchik

AbiWord 2.4.5 (my version) works perfectly and completely in Russian (including the interface). I have the following files in
/usr/share/AbiSuite-2.4/dictionary/:
russian.hash
ru-RU.hash-encoding
and, in
/usr/share/AbiSuite-2.4/AbiWord/strings/:
ru_RU-strings
I use a script to start the Russified version, which contains the following lines:
#!/bin/sh
export LANG=ru_RU
unset LC_ALL
abiword
/usr/share/AbiSuite-2.4/dictionary/:
russian.hash
ru-RU.hash-encoding
and, in
/usr/share/AbiSuite-2.4/AbiWord/strings/:
ru_RU-strings
I use a script to start the Russified version, which contains the following lines:
#!/bin/sh
export LANG=ru_RU
unset LC_ALL
abiword
Puppyrus
Rox, too, can be Russified easily, though I haven't tried it. Please see the following:
http://rox.sourceforge.net/Manual/Manua ... .html#i18n
I think somnbody has probably done a translation already, so it remains for us to find it....

Files for Abi-ru interface
Dear Magerlab and Melvix,
I have attached the files you need for a AbiWord-ru interface. If your version of AbiWord is in another directory - e.g. /usr/share/AbiSuite-2.x, look for it and place the attached "strings" file in the appropriate place. I have also attached my script to run the Russian version in /usr/local/bin. As for the dictionary, I'll have to see where to get it. I used the one from my Windows AbiWord, and copied it to the /dictionaries directory. It works. It is about 8 MB, so too large to place on the forum (files russian.hash and russian.hash-encoding. Incidentally, Gnumeric can be Russified in exactly the same way.
As for Rox, I downloaded the source code (v. 2.6.1) from the Rox site and have read on that site (see Internationalisation) that you can compile it and indicate the languages that you want included when you select a language from the Options menu. I haven't had time yet to compile it. I don't know whether the languages dotpup will also work, but I will have a look (that would be easier and more efficient for the Russification effort than a fresh compiled version). If you try the languages dotpup and it works, please post the information here.
