programming puppy?
programming puppy?
this could be bloated slightly(wiith addition of jdk and an java ide) but what i was think is a version of puppy that has a larger number of languages supported than puppy has right now. languages like c,php, perl, and python

I have suggested it a few times. It is a good idea
This is how to create such a version easily
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=DistroCreate
this will give you an indication of the languages available .. .

I wonder if it is worth using KDE as the window manager as there are some programming tools that work with that?

Re: programming puppy?
There is already an fltkc++.sfs file for those wanting C++ and I'm pretty sure Perl, Python and wxBasic are available in the repositories. PHP is interpreted anyway, isn't it? Then there's murgaLUA, which has a runtime module for Puppy but surely could be used as a full dev environment.bobwrit wrote:this could be bloated slightly(wiith addition of jdk and an java ide) but what i was think is a version of puppy that has a larger number of languages supported than puppy has right now. languages like c,php, perl, and python

theres devx_216.sfs but when linking it cant find any functions(will ftkc++.sfs solve this?)WhoDo wrote:There is already an fltkc++.sfs file for those wanting C++ and I'm pretty sure Perl, Python and wxBasic are available in the repositories. Re: programming puppy?
Probably. PM Tronkel to be sure. He created the sfs and uses the toolkit for development.bobwrit wrote:theres devx_216.sfs but when linking it cant find any functions(will ftkc++.sfs solve this?)

thanks. i'm starting construction on this. the added packages are about 420 and that's without c or kde. total size ithink will be somewhere around a 550 to 650 MB puppy(big i know).

sfs
Try http://mooload.com (although it has a 500 MB limit). If you construct an sfs instead of ISO, then the Puppy files won't be there, and will save you ~80 MB.
Puppy user since Oct 2004. Want FreeOffice? Get the sfs (English only).

An SFS would be ideal. However due to KDE and the massive size of your project this might not be feasible.bobwrit wrote:anyone willing to donate a mirror?
Both MU and Pkag will kindly provide mirrors (but you have to upload)

here is a good post from klu9 about using bittorrent (that might be a good way to go)

i had it almost done yesterday but a power surge came and got rid of all the files(i had everything except kde and the 2.16 core, it was around 800 MB too big to burn onto a standered cd.). it's just too big to be ran in ram with current tech(wait a couple years and it should be fine) and i've have problems uploading to servage mirrors.
