The AR5007EG is a recent variation of the Atheros chipset, and is not supported by the current release of the MADWiFi driver.
Due largely to the fact that this chipset is found in the popular ASUS Eee notebook, discussion on the MADWiFi forums has prompted a patched version of the MADWiFi driver, and this driver is now available for Puppy 3.x and 4.0 here

and for Puppy 2.12-2.16 here

Can you try with this:
http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/index.php/to ... 450.0.html
It's an ubuntu guide, but could works on puppy linux too.
Or can you visit this page:
http://madwifi.org/wiki/Compatibility/Atheros
and see on AR5007EG and find all you need.
Bye bye
Giuseppe

Checking out 4.1rc
I've just downloaded 4.1rc and it's great! but wifi doesn't work for me.
I have a brand new Acer Aspire 5315. According to the madwifi page at http://madwifi.org/wiki/Compatibility/Atheros, this is tested and working. But Puppy only sees the Ethernet adapter.
I tried installing several modules: ath5K, ath_pci and bcm43xx (and rt2400pci, rt2500pci and rt61pci for good measure). No luck.
I don't have any obvious access to the Windows driver, since everything was pre-installed.
Any ideas, anyone?

According to that page you have the Atheros AR5007EG variant of the Atheros chipset, which is only supported by a special "madwifi-hal" version of the MADWiFi driver (ath_pci).nicolas_ho_taylor wrote:I have a brand new Acer Aspire 5315. This has been widely discussed on the Puppy forum before, even in this same forum thread.
The exact driver you need for Puppy4.1rc1 has been made available here

madwifi update
That was silly of me - I skimmed the thread too quickly and missed the information.
Wireless is now working, at least as far as listing all my neighbours' wifis. Now I have to get to grips with setting up the network, which seems very temperamental - but that's for another thread!
Thanks for your help.
