No smilies or sounds in Pidgin?

#1 Post by TNTtrev »

*grumble grumble*

First of all, I'll kinda introduce myself. I've been browsing these forums for a couple of weeks, I just haven't had time to post anything worthwhile. I love Puppy Linux and sing it's praises to everyone I know. No need to sing it's praises here, seeing as though all you guys know how excellent of a operating system it is.

Okay, on to my question:

I'm trying to configure Pidgin. Similes and Sounds to be exact. I installed the .pet package from Petget and everything is going off without a hitch. I used Pidgin when I was in Windows, so I'm pretty familiar with the program. First my smilies problem: There is no smilies. No problem right, I'll just take the smilies that are in .purple/smiley and tarball them along with the theme file and everything will be a-okay? Or so I thought. It refuses to install them. And I've done everything according to the book. I managed to download a Yahoo and MSN icon tar.gz from a website and it installed just fine. Problem is that it only works for MSN and Yahoo. Also, the sounds don't work. I have no clue on how to make that work either. So any insight onto that would be most helpful.

Oh, and also while I'm thinking about it: Is there anyway to implement the spell checking feature? I had it on Windows and it would be a nice feature to have.

Thanks in advance for all your guy's help!

Have a look in /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin

For sound, Check to make sure your preferences are set correctly. Under the "sound tab"I have:
Method command
Sound command wavplay %s
