Firefox 2.12+Java+Flash all-in-one Pet package by ttuuxxx

#1 Post by ttuuxxx »

well this is an update to the last one I did, just a newer Firefox, no need to reinstall if you already had my older version since it automatically updates to 2.12. This version is for the people who don't have it already installed:)
Works perfect on 3 series no missing libraries on 3.01.
should work on 2 series also.

Thanks ttuuxxx,

That's one hell of a browser. Is it just me, or is anyone else bothered by the prospect of a browser larger than all of Mean Puppy?

I appreciate the convenience of a single down-load, but, most of the time, I don't need Java. There are also people who just want to get on-line quickly to look something up, without watching Flash videos. Until we get Skipstone built with Firefox headers, (and tested,) I'd like the ability to choose plugins without going back to scratch. We could make a custom installer, just for Firefox, which would save you from having to produce several different versions. Is this reasonable?

Have you had any chance to work on an .sfs file yet?

Hi prehistoric

In the past I usually made 3 different version ,
-Firefox 2.11 http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/progra ... fox211.pet
-Firefox2.11 +Flash http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/progra ... irefox.pet
-Firefox 2.12 +flash+Java http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/progra ... irefox.pet

I was working on a new Variant http://www.puppylinux.ca/ttuuxxx/progra ... irefox.pet last-night and basically needed Firefox with all 3 programs. So I had to make the big one anyways:) And as you know I like to share.Thats why I released this one in particular.
but you can still get the 2.11 I made a few months back which auto-updates to 2.12 anyways:)

ok well thats just not correct
go to /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser <---- open as text and erase all text then paste in the following text and save it.

#!/bin/sh
exec firefox "$@"

ttuuxxx could you post the md5sum so atheist could check it.

ok, stupid question:

do i need to remove the old version of firefox first? this would entail just deleting the folders and files, as i can't remove it with pet-be-gone, right?

thanks for the help, ttuuxxx- that text is already in the file at /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser. it's got to be something else...

file size seems to be correct- i'm not exactly sure how to do an md5sum check. it didn't stop at 755k, though, and it runs through the install after warning that firefox is already installed.

what other info can i post?

thanks,

-steve

ok steve which firefox package did you install the firstime, you should be able to remove it with the package manger.
if not uninstall the one with java
the do a search with pfind and manually remove the directories
DO NOT remove and directories in .mozilla
then reinstall the one with flash and java
then you should be ok
you can even remove the default browser if you wish since it gets replaced with the package I made :)

Your welcome, I'm a firm supporter of Firefox on here and I'm always going head to toe with the powers that be over it. I really don't have the time of day for seamonkey. Opera is about halfway on a scale for me.
well I'm glad to have another happy camper, also if you want a few select addons for Firefox look here

Firefox 2.12+Java+Flash all-in-one Pet package by ttuuxxx

#18 Post by J.S. Garrison »

I JUST tried allowing Adobe Flash to install itself and when it failed I came to the Forum. As luck would have it I saw ttuuxxx had made the all-in-one and I got it. That fixed the issue of the stupid icon I had to use at the same time. Thanks, ttuuxxx!

I dunno what happened but I try installing it and it tells me that there is not enough room in my save file.... well I have enough room in it, I even went as far as to increase my save file just to put my mind at rest.
The firefox.pet package has been downloaded to /root/.packages,
however there is not enough room to uncompress and install it.
The free space is 162771 blocks but it is estimated you will
need 308184 blocks temporarily for the expansion and install.

Note: If you are using a pup_save.3fs personal storage file,
it can be made bigger -- see Utilities menu.

This script will now delete the package and exit...
any ideas?
