Re: tux icons
I couldn't resist grabbing a couple for some of our regulars here ... and of course I got one for myself, too! In addition to those below, I saw several that would fit bugman, a few that might suit alienjeff and many others that might be adopted by regulars here. There are over 1600 tux's on the parent site!ttuuxxx wrote:30 Coolest and Funniest Tux Icons

On observance: Place banana in your ear.
Observe that there are no alligators around.
Conclude: Bananas placed in ears keep alligators away :)

Hi Eric,
I think that must be the Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). For such a small bird it has an enormous endurance, flying non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico to seasonally populate eastern-central North America and on into Canada. An amazing feat for such a tiny creature.

During hovering, ruby-throated hummingbird wings beat 55x/sec, 61x/sec when moving backwards, and at least 75x/sec when moving forward.
Hi Fossil,
Yup...you are correct and a male to boot. I'm a backyard birder and I love to see the hummers come back every year. The travelings of a hummer are quite amazing no doubt
I am still learning this camera so I hope to get a pic with the wing beats frozen in a frame...well it's another project anyway along with finding the nest to snap a pic...that's harder than it seems as I've tried for several years and no luck yet.
Best,
Eric
