installing USB CF --> IDE

#1 Post by DrOwl »

Hi all,

I am haveing a problem installing puPPy 4,

I am trying to use the option from the universal installer, to install to a USB CF card thats later moved to IDE.

The CF card is pluged in to a USB CF reader

I get through all the options up-untill the sanity check telling you to put the puppy CD in the drive, then the installed just dies (by this i mean i press OK the window goes away and nothing more, i can see the installer proces stops too).

I have seen this both on a puppy4 VM, and from a puppy4 full HDD install.

As an alternative, i used the USB install, which went fine, but will not boot when its put in my pc's CF card slot (built in IDE adaptor).

So i installed grub, but the box still refuses to boot from the disk.

The PC i want to run this on is a "Aleutia E1 Mini PC", it came with a USB pen with puPPy 2.14 installed, which boots fine (if some what slowly)

How can i ether make the CF card bootable myself, or get the installer working?

I did try to debug the install script, but its large and confusing and ill need a lot more time ;)

Thanks for any help
