Puppy 4 tips

#1 Post by Lobster »

Sometimes to clear my mind I like to have a clear desktop

Go to Menu / Desktop / Wallpaper setter
and press 'clear'
instant Simplepup :D

to get the icons back
restart x from menu
or ctrl + alt +backspace and type 'xwin' or 'xwin jwm'

Any tips or tweaks you have discovered lately?

:D Hey Lobster
Great tip, been looking for a clean way to get rid of those pesky icons, but keep the backdrop, for my next Buddapup. Will this work on 3.xx series too? Im working up a 3,xx Enlightenment E-16 Puppy, and This will help a lot.

Keep the brilliant tips coming...

Now if I could just get them penguins back on my desktop!!!

@ Heres one for the geniuses out there:

I sometimes use a distro called Musix. It has a unique feature Ive never seen anywhere else. It has a row of "virtual desktop" buttons across the taskbar. Each desktop has its own icons and backdrop, to serve a specialized purpose. A Root desktop with icons for system admin., an internet desktop with browsers and chats, ect..
Very simple and interesting idea, I think...If I could figure out how to get E-16 to put a separate pinboard for each desktop...

No because you are (if I remember) using a different wallpaper selector . . .
However . . .
If you install ezpup you can do it from the toolbar . . .

I think Ezpup 4 works on the 3.xx series - check though . . .

That's nice, in a minimalist sort of way.
