How to install Firefox 2.0.0.11.tar.gz?
I know this might sound very beginner but how do i install a tar.gz file?
Generally,
Click on it and a window will open showing all files inside. Click on "select all" and then "extract". It will then ask you where you want to extract it. I usually extract to /root/my-applications.
It will usually create a folder in my-applications with the same name. Inside that folder, you will find a readme file. READ it!! Another file you might find inside is an "install" file. READ it!!
If you need to compile it (if it tells you to run ./configure, make, make install), search the forum for compiling.
What file do you have??

Today is your lucky day!!!
NO compiling for that one.
Click on it and extract / save it to my-applications.
Then open the firefox folder in my-applications and look for the file "firefox".
Click on it and happy surfing.

I'm still pretty new to the world of Linux, but as no one seems to have answered this post, I'll give it a shot. If anyone knows better they are free to correct me
This site seems to give a pretty detailed description on how to compile in Puppy. http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/archives ... /compiling
Much better description than I could anyway

Hope it helps.Puppy has a full gcc make/compile/link suite, available as a scrunched file system. It builds most Linux packages from source using the standard "./configure", "make", "make install" incantation.
