i have a need to customize the menu and remove some of the programs located in the sub menu's. how can i do this?
is there a simple jwm customizer application built in that does this for changing the look and feel of the gui or jwm?
p.s. i'm not referring to themes.
Thanks!
need to customize jwm, menus & gui
In the pre-XDG days of Puppy, it would be a relatively simple task of editing /root/.jwmrc. It's not nearly as easy, and XDG has introducted more layers of complexity.

delete, rename or castrate /usr/sbin/fixmenus and then you can can do what you like with the menus (/root/.jwmrc) safe in the knowledge that the package manager will not overwrite your efforts. You will then be forced to make any changes to the menu by hand.alienjeff wrote:In the pre-XDG days of Puppy, it would be a relatively simple task of editing /root/.jwmrc. I usually just rename anything in /usr/share/applications that I don't want showing up in the menu.
hmmmm....maybe a /usr/share/applications/unused and just drag them to there so one could keep better track of things.
(what took me so long to figure that one out???)

I do it the way trapster says, except instead of dragging unwanted applications to /unused [where they may still be found by some versions], rename them to .unused, so: app.desktop.unused. That works for me. Or create /usr/share/apps-unused, drag them there and they will not be found. You can change them back if you change your mind.
