I like the linux mint theme but Its too "Linux Mint" colours, The theme I posted was just a more modern looking very similar to the default one we have now. Plus It has a search box, which would be quicker for searches, plus more obvious for new users.

If the image is a download, wouldn't a automatic thumbnail be nice? So you know what your actually downloading first?
Is that possible?

sigh... that is not what i mean ttuuxxx i mean that there should be a direct link to imagehack etc in the posting page instead of just a file upload
also that blue theme is decent but the forum search option is pretty worthless anyway that is the real reason people don't use it ... it doesn't work

No, you play dirty, exactly like Disciple. Here's what I actually said in my initial complaint, describing exactly how the context of my words was deliberately falsified.Pizzasgood wrote:You could have said, 'Hey Pizzasgood, during the cleaning I think you messed something up, which alters the meaning of a post. Could you fix this?' It even could have had a bit of harshness to it. But launching into an assault on my character? I don't play that way. What exactly is your complaint?

You DID NOT respond by "fixing" the problem. Instead you labeled me as the problem and took the thread hostage for the second time. Here's a complaint. ...
So misquoting people, even deliberately falsifying the context, is evidently NOT the issue here. Only select individuals are held to any standard of behaviour in this forum.
What a farce!
Here's your response:
My attack on your character came only after that. And you've just underscored its aptness.PostPosted: Tue Aug 26, 2008 11:28 pm Post subject:
I've been trying very hard to give you the benefit of the doubt this whole time. But now you've finally managed to convince me that you were intentionally trying to destroy that thread. Well, if that's the way you want it, fine. It can stay dead.

You're talking nonsense.HairyWill wrote:...
When someone says something to you in person that is wrong or offensive it is hard to walk away. When it is in a forum post that can be read by anyone it seems much harder.
I've"walked away" from all kinds of name calling and other personally insulting posts here. But having my position misrepresented by fabricating a totally false context is another matter altogether.
You can walk away from a post all you want, but you can't hide from it. Posts that I submitted 15 years ago to a single forum on the Internet can still be found now on several sites.
If you can't "see" it when it's put under your nose on a plate, and, apparently, the moderator can't see it, even though he's just "sanitized" the thread down to two pages, how do you think someone who reads a fabricated quote, possibly months or years hence, will even suspect there's anything fishy about it?HairyWill wrote:.However if you are clearly in the right then everyone else can see it too,
And if you think this is irrelevant, all this says to me is that your reputation is worth nothing to you. I've more than once seen ancient quotes dredged up from the Internet archives to blacken someone's character. Do you think the readers will engage in a major sleuthing operation to discover whether the original quote was legitimate?
I stopped writing letters to the editor almost two decades ago, when newspapers and magazines started demanding absolute carte blanche to "edit" one's submission. And yet, letters to the editor have a very limited shelf life, and there ARE avenues of complaint if one's views are grossly misrepresented.
In forums like this, there are no safeguards. One has to rely on the honesty and good faith of the moderators.
I've given them the benefit of the doubt for some months now, and they clearly don't deserve it.
From now on I plan to post any critiques of Puppy and of this forum ONLY in places where my postings and those of my respondents can't be erased or falsified. So you can breathe easy, and enjoy your limp discussions.
BTW - I've just had my testosterone level checked, and it's close to the bottom of the normal range.
What a coincidence! I just had my testosterone level checked! However, it wasn't, uh ... like conducted in a medical or clinical environment, if you know what I mean ...

Actually, you're partially right about that. When I mentioned the attack I must have had my timeline out of whack, because for some reason I was thinking the two posts were only one post. Sorry.
This part though, was still attack (not a strong one), and is the part that made me give up.
And, by the way, you're wrong about my messing up the flow of that conversation. You apparently never knew what the flow was to begin with. Disciple was talking about the bogus pzip thread when you responded 'does it matter'. That's why you two seemed confused with what the other was saying. I have the original content from those posts saved, but you'd probably just claim it was tainted.
Whatever, I have better things to do than argue endlessly about who said what. Rather than spend the rest of my life doing that, I just put the thread back in the 'trash bin'. If you guys want to have a serious discussion about tracking bugs, it will need to start over from the ground up. That thread was a lost cause.
------------------------------------------------------------
As for thumbnail images, there is something in there about it, but I'm not sure what it does. Maybe I'll take a look at it tonight. I need head out to my lab before long so it can't be right now.

It wasn't anything extreme, but it's the feather that broke the camel's back. Up to that point, I was pretty much 50-50 as to whether you were just having a rough time, or were deliberately starting fights, but leaning towards deliberately. So misquoting people, even deliberately falsifying the context, is evidently NOT the issue here. Only select individuals are held to any standard of behaviour in this forum.

Also, so it's clear, I gave up on the thread, not you in general. You managed to tick of many people in the forum, and when that happens to somebody it's hard for them to do anything but make it worse, especially if they have as short of a fuse as you seem to.
So the thread is gone. Take a break, chill out, and move on.
I need to do that too. I'm starting to get a little bit cranky. Fortunately I have no class on Tuesdays and this Monday will be a holiday.

The problem with doing that, as I see it, is that it would be at risk of becoming another imageshack, with even more external hotlinking than the present system is getting.[Aitch]
Is it possible to implement our own imageshack type depository/database - just for puppy related stuff, with a gallery/browse in thumbnails type viewer, along the lines of technosaurus's webpage?
I think we should be trying to eliminate that kind of external traffic.
In several forums of which I am participant, the policy is no internally hosted images, and in two of those, that even extends to the avatar.
This is not a radical policy. The precedents are set.
If the mental midgets on a couple of these forums can handle it, I feel that most Puppians could, also, provided that there are suitable instructions re howto made available, as they are on those sites.

Mr. Pizzagood
Can we expand the viewable image size from 600x600 too 720x540
The reason why Is that I usually shrink my images to 720x540 so it fits the smaller monitors that use 800x600. But isn't so small that you lose detail on larger monitors .
