KDE for Testers !!!
Have a look at this picture:
http://noforum.de/dotpups/megapuppytest.png
I created a usr_more.sfs with KDE, Java, Apache, all Multimedia-codecs (mplayer+KLH), OpenOffice2, Wine. It is 215 MB in Size (contains 677 MB of Data).
Runs very smooth
And gcc works too with usr_devx.sfs
The screenshot was taken on Puppy without xorg, but it works with x.org, too.
Be aware that just 63 MB of Pup001 are used!
Unfortunately I don't have space left at noforum.de, so no download

negative
Well not to be negative but I tried out both bombays & MU little setup & neither worked. But, I am using a hard drive install so it may have something to do with that ? In fact trying MU's package instructions with the dotpup it broke something and I was unable to open a terminal thus I had to re-install puppy. Not worried about re-installing but for others using a hard drive they might. Just a warning for those on a hard drive install
Heaven is on the way, until then let's get the truth out!

Thanks Lobster.
I just tried it at a similar service http://www.rapidupload.com/
After 2-3 hours, the file was sent.
Now the page should change to one, that shows me the link to download.
But just the .gif-animation of the progressbar stays visible
Maybe I'll try it with your link tomorrow.
Thanks, Mark

I'm sorry, I should have posted the error info earlier. I've been at work all day. Here's the Kmail error when fetching mail:
And here's the one when trying to send:
At which point the program crashes completely. Not too saavy on KDE myself so I can't tell what's broken from this. This error was on a completely fresh install without any tampering, and I've gotten it repeatedly.
I'll make a usr_devx.sfs sans QT and get it uploaded sometime in the morning. I also did some playing around with the filestructure and came up with something interesting. I put everything that was in /root/.opt and moved it to /usr/local/.opt, changed the code in rc.local to point /opt there, and symlinked /root/.opt to the same place (necessary because some things are set to look in /root/.opt instead of just /opt). The files inside pup001 now take up only 1.7MB as /usr/local/.opt is inside the squash file. This only increases the size of the squash file by about 5-6 MB.
I've also managed to get it running admirably well in Grafpup after removing QT. The only hitch seems to be that it breaks Scribus somehow. I have to look at that problem a little closer.
All in all this is good work, but Kmail is a major issue for me.

Nathan are you able to restore configuration changes after boot with /root/.opt in usr_more. i excluded /root/.opt from usr_more because i thought that usr_more is mounted read only, so changes would be lost during reboot.
the kmail error looks serious. i have no idea what that means. however it is possible to use sylpheed in place on kmail by changing settings in control center.

The file usr_more itself is mounted read only, but /usr itself is writeable so any changes in /usr/local/opt will persist after a reboot. Try deleting a file out of /usr sometime and you'll see that it works because of unionfs. The file will still exist in usr_cram.fs but there will be another file in /root/.usr that overrides it and makes the system ignore it.

Mega-Puppy 001
This file contains KDE (from Bombayrockers), Java (SUN), Apache (from DSL), Open Office 2 (from Grafpup), Wine (from grafpup), and all videocodecs posted in the past (from MPlayer and from KlhRevolutionist). All together 677 MB of Software.
See a picture here:
http://noforum.de/dotpups/megapuppytest.png
IMPORTANT:
We encountered some Problems with KDE.
So make a Backup of your existing pup001 before installing it!
To install it, follow the instructions in this message:
http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic ... 2565#22565
Simply use this usr_more.sfs instead of downloading the one mentioned there.
Download (215 MB):
http://www.puptrix.org/mega/usr_more.sfs
Thanks to Ted from http://puptrix.org for hosting !
or Download via filesharing with Internet Explorer (215 MB):
http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.php?f= ... d352d8f493
To use Java, you must enter this comand only once:
ln -s /usr/local/jre1.5.0_04/bin/java /usr/bin/java
To use Apache, create an "index.htm" in
/root/.usr/local/wwwroot/htdocs
After that, use the folder
/usr/local/wwwroot/htdocs
To use Openoffice, drag
/usr/local/OOo-2.0/program/soffice
or
/usr/local/OOo-2.0/program/swriter
to your Desktop from ROX (click on the "Home"-Icon on your Desktop to open ROX).
If you want to use the developper-addon usr_devx.sfs, see this message:
http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic ... 2910#22910
Also have a look at the "Boosted Puppy" kernel, that speeds up things even more:

KDE sizzles on Puppy just like you'd expect. On my company laptop with 256 MB ram there's hardly any drop in speed over icewm. I don't have anything else to test it with right now but people are reporting good performance with 128 MB. What, Gnome now too? Mark I guess you didn't make usr_megabloat_moremoremore.sfs quite big enough after all?

usr_devx.sfs for use with KDE
As promised I made a usr_devx.sfs that should be safe to use with KDE. I didn't remove evrything relating to Qt but only what was duplicated, so it should still be possible to compile Qt applications. Get it at:
http://grafpup.com/puppy/
md5 checksum included
Let me know if there's any problems.

removed qt from usr_devx.sfs - still crashes..?
Hi.
I removed qt from usr_devx.sfs - still crashes..?
Probably because of dublicates as Nathan says...
Will try Nathan's usr_devx.sfs next..
(In my productive environment.. so wish me luck)

If anyone may download and mirror it, I really would appreciate that. Time to go to bed now.

Sounds like Mark pulled an all-nighter, I estimate it was 9am his local time, way to go, Mark
