yes
What phone model and do you want usb, bluetooth or irda?
for some phones all you ned to do is connect a usb lead and
modprobe cdc-acm
the phone will get mounted as a drive

Great! The phone is Sony Ericsson K530i and it has a usb cable.I'll try it when I'll boot in again in puppy (I'm trying a LiveCD from Kmobiletools based on slax ,right now ,managed to download only tel numbers and sms's).

What did you try?
What error did you get back on your computer and on your phone?
Here is an example of someone using ubuntu and connecting to the internet using your phone.

Unfortunately it doesn't show what driver is used. Ubuntu must load it automatically. cdc_acm is most likely.
Do you get the message on the phone asking you which mode to select? Which option do you choose?
Are you sure you have the right cable? Just because it fits doesn't mean it is the right one.
