I was looking for a way in Puppy Linux to rename volume labels of existing vfat filesystems. I learned from my research that Mtools has mlabel, which can do exactly this.
So, I have created an SFS containing Mtools version 3.9.11, dated May 31st, 2007: mtools-3.9.11-i486.sfs. (download link to follow)
It includes an /etc/mtools.conf file which may overlay an existing one (so save yours off somewhere!). The mtools.conf file is essential for the commands, such as mlabel, to work. It has to be edited before one can use the drive assignments as arguments to the mtools commands. In other words, mtools.conf allows you to map those DOS/Windows style drive letters like C: or D: to the actual linux device files.
Most of the mtools files will be located at /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/man.
Hope this helps someone.

Thanks, kuapao.
It might be great to have a PET, as you can just use 3 SFS files at once.
So SFS usually should be used only for large programs.

Mtools 3.9.11
Okay, here's the .pet. I try to keep my pup_save small, so I prefer to load applicable SFS files on the occasion I need them. I was also about to suggest that one could use your SFS combiner! Hehe.MU wrote:Download:
