Check the file /proc/cpuinfo and Linux will give you the details. I expect that Puppy only recognizes one CPU. Try another Linux and I expect you will see both CPUs recognized.code_m wrote:Any puppy will likely run on that PC.
You may have some trouble with the dual CPU set up, but other than that you should have no trouble.
I would try the latest Puppy 4 and GamePup. It's up to you what one you like better
moron, ich habe Probleme, Dich zu verstehen...
you see?
For a non native english speaker, it is very difficult to understand dialects or slang.
For many of them, it is already difficult, to understand correct english.
So please try to help them, by writing without slang.
This certainly will help you, too, as then you will get more replys.

the problem is:
1.) I can translate spanish with google, but not slang.
2.) It costs me additional time, trying to understand it.
2.) is ok, if someone is not able to write english, e.g. if he never learned it. Or if he writes in the spanish forum.
1.) is obviously not possible to resolve with slang.

I thought I read somewhere that BK was working on getting v4.1 to make use of both processors in a dual-processor box.
If you really need both those processors cranking away, give serious consideration of another distro with some maturity in that department.

Microsoft has been supporting them for years.alienjeff wrote:I thought I read somewhere that BK was working on getting v4.1 to make use of both processors in a dual-processor box.

Sincerely, one has to look to hard these days, to find a Linux distribution that only supports one. The little tiny Slitaz Cooker, about half the size of Puppy does. DSL with it's 2.4 kernel does has for as long as I remember. RedHat 9 released about 2003? Supported multiple processors.
As far as the future. I tested the recently hosted release candidate and it doesn't seem to, although I didn't burn it to disc, it didn't appear to me that it sees more than one processor. I'm not expecting 4.1 will, if release candidate doesn't.
I just want to make it clear that it has become rare for a current day operating system to see one processor. Meaning to say, it's pretty much a given these days.
