Hi Sigmund I found a few orange icons you might like to look at
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph ... tent=81093
The arrow buttons could be used for Rox buttons which can be changed with the gtk2 theme.

Here's a Puppy wallpaper pack. Orange, Blue, green and gray.
1.) DeepThought.png
2.) Stardust.png
3.) Aurora.png
4.) Rastapax.png
You might think that: "Ok, this looks ordinary", and you're quite right
The only difference is that these wallpapers are only 12 kb, - all 4 together.
The rastapax image fits good on systems that runs with 16 bits colordepth.
Using this pack instead of the Puppy wallpapers in 4.12, will save the iso for about 250 kb.

if you want a matching terminal you can run rxvt with the command:
Code: Select all
rxvt -fg peru -bg gray20

or you could take one of the first gtk2 themes that changed rox's nav buttons called GlossyP and change the default icons with system links to puppy's default icons? here's the latest Glossy P thats been updated twice.zigbert wrote:How can I change the icons in the gtk-theme rather than overwriting them in the gtkrc file. Giving an alternative in the gtkrc will keep both the original and my added icon - double size - no good.

Can we add this randomize code to have all four of Zigberts wallpapers?

zigbert,
I seem to have a bug in my tray, better there than some other places! If I reset the options in the tray gui I seem to end up with a problem, Mind you I did set the firepup icon because I use firepup. The fourth vertical bar is supposed to be rxvt. The lonesome bar between gnumeric and calcoo is rox! Is it something I did? Did all the usual things, ie, 'fixmenus', restart x, bang a few things, you know.
(edit: those bars do work as rxvt and rox respectively)
Edited later: Ok, fixed with 'config manually'. Seemed to duplicate lines of code in ~/.jwmrc-tray-top like (from my memory, )
Seemed strange lines to me so I edited to
and it worked. Same thing with rox. Any ideas?

Hello Everyone,
If you take a look around the forum, a lot of Puppy users have changed to the icewm window manager over JWM.
As this gives Puppy a more modern look, would it really add that much to the standard iso? For me the gains out weigh the small increase in the final iso.
To keep it small just include 1 default specially designed for Puppy 4.2 theme.
You could set up a forum topic for forum members to display their best icewm themes.

Legacy OS 2017 has been released.
zigbert,
Thankyou. Still busily testing. Let you know if I find anything else.
BTW, I use firepup because it is much faster. (I know this has nothing to do with the bug, lol)

We seem to be going for functionality over eye candy, without ignoring eye candy, in 4.2. That gets my vote. Icewm I love too, but Jwm will more than suffice.
Cheers

When you say that they are 12 kb together, i guess that you mean that the collective size is 12 kb.zigbert wrote:Here's a Puppy wallpaper pack. Orange, Blue, green and gray.

either way, these are excellent wallpapers, i specifically like the DeepThought and Rastapax wallpapers, these might be useful in my puplet (or as i like to think of it, a fork, as it is mainly based off itself and the core sometimes changes.)
either way, great job zigbert. and it's likely that your theming ideas might make it into 0.4.
But that's kinda off topic.
either way, i imagine that these will work well with 4.2.
i wish you and the rest of the developers the best of luck.

It's been a long time.
It's been a long time.
i've done a bit of tweaking with the jwm themes and i have built a simple solution to make it simple to make menu button themes for DeepThought.
here is what my .jwm-tray looks like
i simply copied the menu icon from ~/.jwm/ to /usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/.
this means that theme builders that wish to add a menu button to their theme can do so without hassle. just add it into the theme and let the theme manager do the rest.
i plan to hack the icon theme setter to also show a menu button and upload that tonight.

here is what my .jwm-tray looks like
Code: Select all
<JWM>
<Tray autohide="false" insert="right" x="0" y="-1" border="1" height="28" >
<!-- Additional TrayButton attribute: label -->
<TrayButton icon="/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/start-button.png">root:3</TrayButton>
<!-- <TrayButton popup="Run commandline" icon="gexec.xpm">exec:gexec</TrayButton> -->
<TrayButton popup="Show Desktop" icon="mini-desktop.xpm">showdesktop</TrayButton>
<!-- Additional Pager attributes; width, height -->
<Pager/>
<!-- Additional TaskList attribute: maxwidth -->
<TaskList/>
<Dock/>
<!-- Additional Swallow attribute: height -->
<Swallow name="blinky">
blinkydelayed -bg "#939191"
</Swallow>
<Swallow name="asapm">
asapmshell -u 4
</Swallow>
<Swallow name="freememapplet" width="34">
freememapplet
</Swallow>
<Swallow name="xload" width="32">
xload -nolabel -fg red -hl white -bg "#939191"
</Swallow>
<Clock>minixcal</Clock>
</Tray>
</JWM>

It's been a long time.
i hacked the puppy icon theme switcher, to show the custom menu button which would be used when you switch the themes.
I have tested this quite a bit. so it and the package should work.

I have updated main post with the following:
1.)
I have added the hacked icon_switcher to the Deep_Thought_jwm_tray package. Thanks to J-Bob
- The startbutton is now a part of the icon-theme.
- The icon themes may contain symlinks.
- It cooperates with Pwidgets.
2.)
- I have repacked the wonderful JQ8flat-lite icon theme to fit the new icon2desk function (drag icons/programs to desktop)
3.)
- I have upgraded the existing Stardust gtk-theme.

Love those icons, thanks zigbert and jebaJQ8 and all else behind the scenes. Yes that is an icon for 'xlideshow', suits it perfectly.
Merry Christmas to all, and Happy New Year.
