XVKBD Virtual keyboard: how to configure?

#1 Post by divisionmd »

Hello,

Anyone tested/the XVKBD virtual keyboard?

URL: http://homepage3.nifty.com/tsato/xvkbd/ and http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=27792

I am trying to get the application (keyboard) to stay on top of all windows.

There is a command: "xvkbd -always-on-top" however that dont work, tested in window manger JWM and OpenBox and just cant get it to work. :?

Anyone have any smart idea on how to start this application/and keep it on front of all windows ?

Want to launch "firefox" browser and then start this XVKBD virtual keyboard and keep it in front of firefox browser.

So users then can use a touchscreen to enter new URL addresses.

Thanks for help,

Best regards,
Johan

Have you tried clicking on the xvkbd logo (bottom left) to pop up the main menu? The latest version seems to have an option to set for always on top. (per their webpage)

GuestToo's pup is from 3 years ago.
I will make a pet of the latest if I have time soon.

Hello Trapster,

- Yes noticed that the application i used is really old.

- Would very much apperciate if you could make a .pet of the newest version of XVKBD.

- tried to compile and make the new version thats out there but ./configure does nothing strangely. Maybe you need to installa it in a different way.

And i found no installation manuall for it.

But i think you will have better luck trying to install & make it a .pet file.

Good luck.

Johan

I compiled xvkbd under Kubuntu with Xaw3d and Raw I'm going to try the binary in Puppy tomorrow but I have no clue how to make a .pet and it wont have all the extra keyboards and man page that you get from someone with brains.

the .pet file didn't work because it depends on libxaw3d so I compiled a version of xvkbd that didn't use libxaw3d and it loaded so I'm going to try to upload the executable here. It's only the executable nothing else, just copy it to your desktop or /usr/bin rename the file as you wish.

thanks ka9qlq,

I've uploaded a .pet of libXaw3d.so.8 to the xvkbd link above.

Also, your xvkbd isn't independent of libXaw3d:

Is there a way to start the keyboard with the DEAD KEYS

#14 Post by tenochslb »

I actually have a question about the keyboard Can it be activated with the DEAD KEYS already ON?

Is this option available at all?

The reason I use the keyboard is to access the DEAD KEYS, it seems repetitive to have to go to menu>dead keys.. each time.
Pelo

I don't have an answer to the question. Sorry
