Public Apology
Sorry
Puppy is getting too popular
Our forum is flooded by Window refugees
and Redhat renegades
We are trying to cope with increased user numbers
Do not Panic!
Here is our secondary forum
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/puppy-71/
Similarly our Website is having a great deal of traffic
and may experience difficulties especially when Deep Thought is released.
Try Barrys site

Click on the Puppy Chat button on the Puppy desktop to use IRC chat
Stay Frisky.

anyway we can get a forum up and going just for 4.2 and not at the linux hq, like ween need 1000's of people who aren't related to puppy at all to put 2c in. Just anywhere until this gets fixed, Its very frustrating when I build fixes and have to wait until the next day to post them.
Ps if my forum wasn't so screwy I would say use that one.
but it has posting issues. I should get off my butt and fix it. oh well, lol

I have a forum installed (Mercury Board) on free hosting (freehostia), there are no users registered but me, and there are no any topics yet, so I can rename it and open couple of categories in no time. I dunno how good it would be, guess it would be really temporary, cause it's on free hosting and you'd have to upload larger files on file hosting services (there would likely be low size attachment limit )
puppy.b0x.me stuff mirrored HERE or HERE

Lobster:
Is it possible to get forum statistics to see where this increased traffic is coming from and also which forum categories/pages are most popular?
Ttuuxxx suggests the possibility of a separate 420 forum (perhaps one for development, rather than info exchange) but do we have any data to show if this would help resolve the current problem?
Whatever the reason I guess we all agree that the current problems have become significantly worse these last few weeks as to be very worrying for all who hold the community dear.

Sometimes you have to take what Lobster says as hype!
We are popular, but that is not the reason the forum is falling over. Look at when the most users was registered. Not recently.
I was the only one logged in this morning - 1 registered user 0 guests. After a short while the forum stopped!
Some maintenance is required and I guess Murga has gone walkabout.

I can have my web host provider set up a backup forum for us if you all wish. This is his forum http://www.xnote.com/forums/. It is what he would probably set up for us. My host has always been quick and reliable, as some of the old timers can vouch for.

I suspect a lot of the traffic is because of downloads of puplets/ISO/graphics & some traffic is nothing to do with the forum/users
The many bots are regular updaters, and lock-on while they update their databases
