Hi trio. This is important enough to be posted in the Puppy 4.2 Patches and Updates thread in the Bugs forum. It's not a bug; just a small oversight on my part and your workaround will resolve it quickly, so please post it there as well. Thanks.trio wrote:In 4.2 Final..bcm43xx is still being a problem...for those of you who wants a workaround..just edit /etc/rc.d/MODULESCONFIG (line 33) delete the red word

Also a useful update, trio. Please post in the Puppy 4.2 Patches & Updates thread in the Bugs forum. Thanks, mate.trio wrote:Not to blame anyone but when decided to use icewm's blinky and freememapplet 2 things happen:
1. blinky will not follow theme for background
2. the freememapplet still shows only part of what it supposed to show
so I made up a fix for any jwm users who wants it.

There was some real Serendipity in the choices, Barry. You'll notice that the colours of the background are a perfect foil for the icons and theme, the unmounted Puppy event drive icons look like they're under the water in the foreground and Zigbert's top level menu icons look like they were drawn in the sand with a stick!BarryK wrote:The snapshot of the desktop looks beautiful -- that's going to create a very good first impression!
I'm downloading it right now.
I picked the default image because to me it said everything most people usually think of when they think of Australia - sun, sand and sea - without being obvious like using the Opera House or Uluru. I'm glad you like it!

No, not yet. I will be uploading a devx_420.sfs, a new Unleashed_core-420 and some updated pets for the pet-packages-4 directory. Patience please.runtt21 wrote:Is the devx.sfs ready yet?

Those shots are from Puppy 4.1 so they are considerably out of date but changing them is kinda out of our control, Jeff. Let's hope the Australian editor of Distrowatch Weekly picks that up and Reviews 4.2 as well. At least they spelled my name right! Memory & Processor Usage
So, I took screenshots to illustrate any differences between this and Puppy 4.1.2 w.r.t. memory and CPU usage.
All I did was boot up, select Xorg with the same resolution, wait for the getting started message to go away, connect to the network, start top from the command line, and take a screenshot.
Afterwards, I installed LXTask and took another screenshot in each.
PS: In the Puppy 4.2 shot, you can see that the lower desktop icons are bunched together. Didn't happen in 4.1.2. My resolution was 800x600.

Buy a cdrw thats really the only way to go I must burn/erase over 100 on each one The versions I release I usually they get a cd, but every testing version gets a cdrwalex12 wrote:Cool. Thanks for the new release. I guess I have an excuse to get more blank cds because I ran out after testing various puppy and ubuntu prereleases.

desktop icons
wonderful release, congrats to WhoDo et al.
Just some comments:
sending desktop icons to the 'Trash' will 'move the original item' to the Trash. This is counterintuitive for Windows refugees, who expect only the desktop item to move to Trash. Mmm, it's counterintuitive, period.
Osmo doesnt shut down properly.
Start & stop Osmo a few times. Check htop: the processes are still there.

HP2133 problem
Live CD runs fine but no Wifi. I see from this forum that this is fixable so I thought to try that after I had installed to HP2133 HD. The install went fine I took all the recommended grub options. On reboot all I get is a grub prompt

What should I do to fix.

retro and non retro on front page
For as far as I can gather on the front page there is not indicated that there is a retor and not.
Besides it is my impression that the link to this topic is not very visble, jumpring to the eye.
Now that I am here: Did I gather well that in 4.2 you can "live boot" on livecd sfs's, and if so, HOW ?
