I tried to log in here last evening to tell you that I got midi working too, but the site threw me out and wouldn't let me log in again. Strange.
Reaper->Options->Preferences->Midi Devices->Enable CAO106
Select CAO16 from the channel IO's then hook up a midi instrument from the FX tab. (Some global hook-up's would be cool)
Apart from some annoying clicks and pops everything seems fine. I'll tweak the settings I guess and see how it goes. Thanks for all your help!

Fresh Install of latest DAW Pup
Jack-> Default Settings->Start
Latest Version of Reaper-> I loaded the new default midi project from
~./wine/c_drive/ProgramFiles/REAPER/new-demo/new-demo.rrp
~Preferences/MidiDevices CA106 Enabled.
And it worked straight away.
The channel IO's do not have CA106 selected. There is nothing selected in fact.
It's a bit jittery, but I'm sure we'll have that sorted soon!
Hey maggot, nothing outboard yet just a brand new, bog standard, quad core with 3G ram, + Nvidia sound and a Creative card too that doesn't work within Linux, my SuSE couldn't find it either.
I'm just about to invest in some kit. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the update Donny. I have a new sound card coming. Linux isn't to fond of my M-Audio Ozone, which sucks. Go to the ALSA site and they have a list of supported soundcards. Next thing on the list is to get a RT enabled kernel going, wish me luck.

Cool. Have you tried any lower or is it too crackly? I'm waiting on a new soundcard to get here, so I can test some more. Thanks for checking it out. synth, thanks for the tip on Wavosaur, I'm gonna check it out.

On a point of interest - There is no need to start Jack first if you are, like me, simply using "inboard" midi.
Last night Reaper rendered 37 tracks of midi to audio (25 minutes long), via HyperCanvas with 3 plugin filters on it's own channel and IsotopeOzone on the master.
The result is a tiny bit clicky (hardly noticable except on cans) like listening to an old album, especially with the 50hz hum from the Ozone mastering tool.

Sorry to hear that Donny. New version up at: http://www.agitprop666.com/PuppyLinux.html
DAW-PUP-0.5.0alpha It has the 2.6.29.1 kernel SMP enabled and patched for RT. I'm having problems with my sound card so haven't been able to test it completely. This version should help with the noise a bit.
Under Jack-Control, (Qjackctl), under setup parameters choose Realtime. Was able to run it at 2.9 ms latency with no x-runs, but soundcard troubles prevent me from testing any further. That's strange about Firepup crashing, it's been very stable for me. Did you add a flash pet? Becuase Firepup already has it. This new version of DAW-PUP is fatter at 174 MB. Probaly all the modules from the new kernel compile.

DAW-PUPrt.alpha.iso up at http://www.agitprop666.com/PuppyLinux.html
2.6.29.1 kernel, SMP and RT enabled.
I'm not sure if I have a hardware problem or if theres a wineasio problem. If anybody could test this out and try recording audio into Reaper it would be a big help.

Here's the error I'm getting:
Maybe synth has an idea of what's up. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
In the version that's up for download, I installed wineasio with a different soundcard with no error. My M-Audio Audiophile 2496 seems to use oss emulation for it's driver.

DAW-PUPrt.0.4.6.iso is done. Ready to download at http://www.agitprop666.com/PuppyLinux.html
Instead of banging my head against the wall redoing it from scratch, I took the sfs from an earlier version an upgraded the modules, doh.
Problem with my soundcard was that it runs oss emulation drivers. Needed to select oss in wineconfig and Jack. I've left alsa as default though. This should solve the crackling noise in the earlier version. I'm going to take a break for a bit, then try to tackle FFADO.
