Can't stop Top Tray in Puppy 4.2.1

#1 Post by goldpacific »

I tried from Ptray
Edit tray, Hide Tray , Apply
Rebooted

The top tray still popping up. This keeps happens frequently when I use the top toolbar of Seamonkey. I would prefer to get rid of Ptray totally.

Go into your file system, in root, and find the file called .jwmrc it is a hidden file, so you may have to set Rox to show hidden files. Open .jwmrc in a text editor like Geany or leafpad and comment out the line at the bottom that says

Code: Select all

<Include>/root/.jwmrc-tray-top</Include>
You can either delete it or comment it out (preferred) To comment it out, edit it to look like this

Code: Select all

<!-- <Include>/root/.jwmrc-tray-top</Include> -->
Spup Frugal HD and USB

commented out the line in .jwmrc using Leafpad.
checked using less that changes were made.
restarted X.
Top Tray is still popping out.
Also the .jwmrc file no longer has changes I typed in.
.jwmrc file got restored to original.

I did this several times to make sure.

OK. Its picking up the template and resetting. The template file can be found at /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.jwmrc
Edit that file the same way to prevent it re-setting

Just a thought......... It might work just to re-name the file /root/.jwmrc_tray_top
I have never tried doing it this way, but I dont THINK Jwm creates the file if it cant find it. Call it .jwmrc_tray_top1 or somesuch.

OK, cool. Tip: F9 toggles folder tree view on and off in Seamonkey mail.
