WookiePuppy

#1 Post by Sonsum »

You can download it here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/ahf1f5c ... master_iso

Have you hugged a wookie lately?

WookiePuppy is a Puppy remaster designed for speed and a very small size.

Changes:

* Added Seamonkey 1.1.8 without mailnews (a very lite browser that doesn't sacrifice TOO much functionality)
* Added the gpicview bugfix
* Added the xlockmore bugfix
* Removed xsoldier, tile and picpuz (NO GAMES FOR YOU!)
* Removed xfprot (there's no need for antivirus people)
* And added PET-Be-Gone (For making it even smaller, if you feel like you have to)

This is my first remaster, so please post any questions/comments/concerns.

The trouble is, I can't download from the site. I have tried so many times already.

Please find some other mirrors.

Excellent, sonsum, this is a very good minimal puplet for people wanting to do their own remaster*, based on the official Puppy Linux base of 4.12.

Seamonkey does what I want it to do, which is to open new windows in the background. Is this a simple option in Seamonkey's preferences? (So I will know how to do it next time. )

For others, am uploading it to:
http://puppy2.org/wookie/WookiePuppy1-412.iso
md5sum is 6953749d4cace17a6bf4cfee8f4d5f94

(Give it an hour for uploading.)

* Note that Dougal's remaster script is included in /root.

I downloaded it from the original link without problem, and this iso looks good. I'll put it through its paces.

Thanks for its entry into puppy world,
Jake

Hi, even if I am not a tweaker I gave you remaster a try.

Used browser and burner.

Quite fast, though the scrolling of the browser seemd to me not too smooth. Might have something to do with the time of the day or the sites.

Downloading the files was not either a problem.

Sorry for my delay, I was unaware that there were any posts.

For the scrolling issue, I believe that that's a video card issue. On my ancient laptop, I fixed that by changing the video bit quality from 24 to 16.

Pup-be-gone is missing a dependency, that's been fixed an will appear in the next version.

Oh yes, I added dougal's script because I find it far superior to the installed script.

Thanks for all your comments,
Sonsum.

ok but where's the screenshot? Its only natural when you release a variant that you include a screenshot.

Sorry ttuuxxx, I've been away for a while and haven't been able to get a screenie posted.

I'll post one when 1.1 is finished, which should be quite soon.

Hey, 1.1 is ready for upload. Is there a better place for me to upload it? Where would be the best place?

Thanks Jadm,

But if you could mirror wookiepuppy 1.1, that'd be a huge help.
