Unable to connect WLAN-107
I am new to Puppy but have successfully installed it.
I am trying to connect to the internet via an Asus Wireless AP Card WL-107 - PCI slot 0...
The connection wizard seems to find the correct driver rt2400 for what is listed as wlan0 and the network comes up as active scanning for an IP bears results - i.e. one is found - as does inserting static IP... However, no matter how I try I can't connect...
I've tried going through the Pwireless with the same results.
In addition, LAN is on shared WEP (ascii 128 bit)...
Please help!

frustration getting the better of me, I went out to look for wlan cards on the puppy-compatible list... and found only a DSE Wlan 802.11g...
Which gives exactly the same results as the old Asus Wlan-107: i.e., when configured with connection wizard, everything looks peachy until one actually tries to connect and it fails...
the DSE 802.11g does have the advantage of showing an icon of a pair of computers talking... but that's all show.
I know I'm missing some important steps in configuring either of these cards: please help before my frustration gets the better of me again.
Thanks.

I bet you did get a APIPA IP.
If so, the connection to your router isn't ok. Maybe problems with the 128 WEP key.
Also try to connect without WEP as a test.

I did get an APIPA.
LAN connects 5 computers to internet through wireless router.
Have read that cabling straight from router to the laptop (the Puppy) is helpful in configuring. Don't understand the ins and outs of it. And don't have cable.
Surely the WEP wouldn't be a problem?
Am sending this from Ubuntu 9.04 machine with 802.11 WiFi interface (ath0) and ath5k_pci driver...
I'd thought that the configuration of the card itself was the issue... ?

I think what Beem was suggesting was to turn off encryption
in the router temporarily to see if your card can make an open
connection.
You might check in setup>wizardwizard>config. startup>
module prefs. and make sure ath_pci is second after ath5k.
I only use wpa encrypt, never tried wep....maybe a tip here.

thanks for the link on WEP... everything was looking very positive.
I reinstalled WL-107 - on the basis that if it worked I could take the DSE back and get a refund! - and the s:(your 128bit key here) said immediately that a connection had been found... however, browser (Seamonkey) couldn't find pages...
Checking the drivers for WL-107, I found allocated driver (rt2400) to not find any devices...
Reboot>reinstall DSE 802.11g>use the "s:..." tip for the WEP key>ath5k_pci finds device>won't configure... won't scan... activity light on cardbus doesn't light... and icon of two talking computers disappears from bottom status bar... What's going on?
am rebooting now...

Most info on the WL_107 seems to suggest it uses rt2x00 or
rt2500 module. Puppy has these in setup>startup>add new
modules.
Check system>pupscan interface>pci devices, for more info
on your card.
