How to recover deleted desktop icons?
Have deleted by accident the "setup" desktop icon. As it's not in the trash bin just how do I get it back please? Not the most important question ever but....
Many thanks.

I see from your other posts that you did a totally unnecessary
Seamonkey update......so I have no idea where you stuck it.
Use Pfind in the menu and search for the file that opens the
browser when you click it.

sorry,
i started searching on how to update the browser after the pop-up keep appearing.
so i figure, "for a newer stable version, why not".
worst come to worst, i can still open my CUPS through the URL.
through Pfind, i am not exactly sure which file to search.
i tried "browse", the icon name that was on my desktop, but it didn't return any rewarding result.

It's not your fault Levian; lots of new users assume the update is
necessary.
In Pfind type default, or if you can't find the browser there
type seamonkey. The path to the exe file is usually fairly short.

somehow (i am not sure what i did), there is a "defaultbrowser" in my /usr/local/bin/.
but the wording for the globe is in red.
when i clicked it, the error message went "File doesn't exist, or i can't access it: /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser".
n when i open up console, there is a first line that went "cat: /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser: Too many levels of symbolic links".
what should i do next?

I don't know what's happened to your defaultbrowser, but just delete /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser, then open a text editor, then copy & paste this:
and save this as /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser, then, in a console, run:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
exec mozstart "$@"
Code: Select all
chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser
i followed your instructions n created a new defaultbrowser.
now after clicking the defaultbrowser, there are no more error messages,
but it blinked n nothing happened. i looked into the folder
n notice there is a file called "mozstart" with the globe icon as well,
i clicked that n nothing happened, is that the reason why my
defaultbrowser is not responding?
