Note to ttuuxxx on Puppies in VirtualBox
Hi Ttuuxxx,
Thank you VERY much for your great puplet!
I have a note on flash in FF for you. First, my system is running Xubuntu v9.04 as a host O/S and VirtualBox is v3.0.6.
I ran a stock Puppies (installed as frugal) in xvesa mode @ 1152 x 864 x 24 on a 2nd monitor running at 1280 x 1024.
When I first ran a flash video (youtube.com) on Puppies, FF crashed within seconds. This was repeatable with other sites.
I tried removing flashblock but still had similar results.
I then removed the HTML editor and Simple mail add-ons and voila! No FF crashes and I can play flash in full-screen. I then re-installed flashblock and all is still ok.
I was able to add in the OpenOffice 3 SFS after upgrading it, and link .docs to it successfully as well, and now, thanks to you, have a VERY nice Puplet.
I also installed your printer GUI and added an LPR printer successfully through it, and the printing works fine.
Thank you very much!
Dan

Hi Jason I'm sick with a head/chest cold. In a few days when I'm over it I'll make a newer devx, I had one for the retro X-server version but haven't made one for the main x-server yet.jasmac wrote:Hello Ttuuxxx, I was wondering if I wished to compile programs, say such as gimp or devede, is the relevant devx file the only thing I need?
Cheers

FTP download for Puppy 4.31.1 ?
For those of us with slow, slow dialup connections, an FTP download site for Puppy 4.31.1 would be very welcome.
Hail Puppy!

Unetbootin
Would it be possible for you to add Unetbootin to this puplet? I am having difficulty getting it to work. Probably something simple I am missing.
By the way, I really appreciate all the work you have done thus far.

Got it running today and Firefox is twitchy, crashes at anything.
The only web site it won`t crash on is Google, even Yahoo crashes it!
I assume it needs FlashPlayer? Why is this always an addon?
Aqualung starts new player for every song clicked in ROX. Xine didn`t.
And it doesn`t stop running when you close it, it goes to the tray. Bad...
As little as I liked Barry`s 400 SeaMonkey, it`s better in a lot of ways.

I also liked windows 98 and xp once, lol Who asked? I'm sick with a cold and some people complain too much, no looking before you leap here.sunburnt wrote:Got it running today and Firefox is twitchy, crashes at anything.

I assume it needs FlashPlayer? Why is this always an addon? Funny how FF3.5 can run perfect on some Pc's and others have issues like yours, Also it has the latest flash player /lib/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so

I made it to open just one window at a time, before it was like select 10 songs with streamtuner and have 10 windows, It goes to the tray so you can listen to music and surf the next which is handy, but you can disable the tray feature in the preferences.

ttuuxxx, you just work on getting over your cold and try not to take offense when one person prefers one application to another one. its all about choices.
sunburnt (my wife is a dermatologist and would definitely lecture you about that, but...) try using xvesa instead of xorg. i would also get crashes in xorg but in xvesa it has never crashed once for me. and just b/c firefox is supported mainstream so much more it really makes it worth it.

ttuuxxx; My assumption was based on many Puppies I`ve tried.
I really thought Pup-431 would have it, maybe there`s a difference?
First time I`ve tried Aqualung, there`s probably behavior settings.
Different apps. are always a new curve, one mans improvement is...
Yep... That`s my experience, write an app. and the next PC it crashes.
Semperon 2400+, 256 MB ram, ATI 7500 Radeon, std. desktop PC.
I`ll try with less apps. running, if SFS file loads to ram maybe low mem.
