My Puppy is not seeing the cd-drive

#1 Post by sica07 »

Hello everybody!
I made a frugal install off puppy 4.3. Everything works ok (as alaways on puppy) but the cd-rom drive. The problem is not recognise by Puppy. I tryed with probedisk, and mount but none of them are detecting my CD-Rom drive. What should I do? (Sorry for my bad english)

The short list
Did Puppy see it to boot from the CD?
Did you put a CD in the drive before trying to mount it?
The reason I ask is that the CD icon only shows up when you put a CD in the drive.
When you remove the CD, the CD icon will disappear.
Also, is the CD drive internal or external?

Hi 8-bit! Thanks for the quick reply.
That was what I wanted to say, that Puppy is not seeing the cd unit (an internal one) when I have a cd in it. And yes, I can boot from a Puppy CD, but after that it does not recognise it (in my frugal installation).

If you used Xorg...try Xvesa instead.

Or vice versa if you selected Xvesa.
