a good filemanager for fluxbox=PCManFM
That I don't know and may need someone like yourself to figure it out for us...rox is not the usual filemanager used with fluxbox, ya know?
Trapster: got any advice for us?
Any other fluxbox'ers?
...keep at it, brymway... [/quote]
I have used PCManFM and it is a lightweight alternative FM that is much like thunar. The lightweight side of it might be a great alternative to rox and a compliment to fluxbox.

I started new section in eyecandy for your own fluxbox styles here
And here's link to this cool azenis style on puppy-look: link
There's thread for rox toolbar icons in eyecandy section too
Have fun falks.

Nice job on 421, Steve - the dl link still works and the md5 is proper but it needed some fixing in p431 before the iso (case was ALLCAPS on all file names, nsg for a successful boot from liveCD ) was right, burned and ..
Do think about including a 2nd wm (for an alternative/recovery gui). It wasn't until I threw blackbox in that I could recover from a few minor messes since I'm ever a novice at cli plus bb and fb can be quickly switched as wms.. Pmount was really inconsistent as a mounting utility (no biggie, throw a roxpin up and use the driveicons ). By and large, a very nice fluxbox - thanx.
(addenda) For those used to messing with .xinitrc .. probably not a good idea to comment out the lines concerning kde (like I usually do) , that was fun after a while setting it up and... cool, htop works real good even w/o a wm.

That is correct. That is part of what makes it "lite."Rupp wrote:
PupFlux Lite is the only one that doesn't have jwm installed if I am correct? I am using 4.12 and it has jwm.

**Edit: oops...forgot I removed it from 421 also. But that was a size issue as well. I hear you, 'f00 (thanks for the complement, by the way), but I was trying for a smaller size. Like I mentioned, it seems to get harder and harder to strip out jwm.
So, as Rupp pointed out, 412 DOES still have jwm in it.
Can anyone please direct me to the files these need to be extracted to?
I extracted the main folder to etc/xdg/menus but I know the files within still need to be in their correct paths.
This may not be what I need, I also downoaded fluxbox-menu-104.pup and fluxconf.pup Have dotpuphandler but it won't exec, all I can get is Xarchiver.
I've switched from openbox to fluxbox and now just trying to restore my puppy menu.
Thankyou, and yes I do too but my editing was not familiar with this. I'll read through for comprehension, comparison, and make a backup of original file. ThankyouRupp wrote: I just posted this http://pastebin.ca/1682424 for someone in irc. Thats the pupflux menu. I know what you wanna do but I prefer to edit by hand anyway. To me its easier and it actually helped me learn more.
I am finding that 4.3.1 is having issues with some of my 'puters in that regard. I've found that typing from terminal "wmpoweroff" frequently will shut it down. In other words, I think it is the Puppy version that the more recent Pupflux is based on relative to the hard ware...walter90 wrote:I might have missed it but my PupFlux won't shut down the normal way. It just sits there with a black screen. Could be my laptop but i don't know. My Puppy 4.2.1 works without a single hitch.
If I go to "restart" in the flux menu I can type "poweroff" and it shuts down. What can I do to fix it?
I'm open to suggestions from the masses on that one...
Nope, not just you, and not just Pupflux. For example, I got a P4 laptop from someone recently, ran the latest MacPup on it (based on 4.3.1) and it has the same issue: it will shut everything down, but not turn the computer totally off.Rupp wrote:
I tried to make my own PupFLux 4.31 right after it came out and I had the same problem so I gave up. I thought it was just me having the problem.

Mine doesn't say "system halted". It just is black. Will it do any harm to press the power switch in that case?dejan555 wrote:Ah that, yeah try booting with acpi=off
Or just push the power button when it says "System halted"
And yes, my MacPup Foxy does something similar so it must be Puppy 4.3 at the root of the problem.
not sure if it's safe if it shows black screen.
try "wmpoweroff" command from console or exit X with ctrl-alt-backspace then type poweroff
