HanSamBen Es

#1 Post by sidders »

HanSamBen is in English. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 545#363545
I am trying to translate into Spanish.

Hansamben is aimed at 2-6/7/8 years olds.
The ISO is 208mb so it will run on 256mb ram ok.

This is harder than i thought. So i am posting what i have done so far.

It has Gcompris, Abiword, Tuxpaint/math/type, Bugsquish ( a very crude hack), Osmo, Cups all in Spanish.

I borrowed some scripts from Pupxigen4

None of the Help files have been translated.

Childsplay in spanish i available as a SFS

HanSamBenES

md5.txt

ChildsplayES.sfs

Its 200mb.

Help

#2 Post by yurfader21 »

Let me know if I can help you with something else. As I stated before, if it is not available let's make it.

I am currently working with a 4.3.1 version in spanish (It is part of my Linux and Puppy learning curve), but I can leave some time to continue with something else.

Regards

no options?

#6 Post by ljfr »

Hi sidders,

I can't find the language option, but the current locale is used by default, so you could try in a console:

Code: Select all

LANG=es_ES.utf8 && tuxmath
or switch your desktop to spanish in Menu >> Desktop >> Chooselocale country localisation (and enable UTF8).

1-You need install first the locale support for Puppy Linux with Chooselocale script and setting it with es_ES.

2- Then, you need to create a locale support path in this two:

/usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES/
/usr/local/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES/

Put in the first path the file tuxmath.mo and start Tuxmath before.

(Note, The path is in relation with "--prefix=/xxxx" compile option).

es locale for Tuxmath 1.7.2

#8 Post by yurfader21 »

I am not quite sure if this is the problem but I downloaded the sources and found out that approximately 50% of the locales were not translated for the Tuxmath version 1.7,2.

I translated them myself and attached a file with the .po and .mo files compressed. Try those and let us know if the problem is solved.

I took the Enlish dictionary out and typed tabli.
F7 to spell check and it came up tabla. I'll do some more testing, but it seemed ok.

How can I help?

#12 Post by surfdean »

I live in a remote part of costa rica and just ran across your distro after butting my head against puppy 4.3.1 and gcompris 9.2 for a few days...

I love it. I'm putting it on two old laptops with 64-80 megs of ram at one of the local schools. I had previously been using edubuntu, but it's too heavy for these old dogs.

Since I'm in Costa Rica, the kids obviously speak spanish (and some english). So, how can I help get this spanish translated HanSamBen version going? Hablo bastante espanol para apoyar con este proyecto.

Aloha,
dean

I will get what i have got, just needs a couple of tweaks and upload it.

I will do that this week and you can see what is needed. I havnt got all the apps in the English version into Spanish (the SFS add-ons) but the core apps are there.

I have also been stuck on Gcompris 9.2, so i will drop that for the moment.
