Lighthouse Pup USB Flash Install Not Persistent?

#1 Post by friedsonjm »

Installed Lighthouse C to USB Flash - but it stays in 'pristine' mode, can't get it to remember keyboard, xorg, or sfs's loaded.
Thoughts?
thanks,
jf

I'm having the same problem, changed even the filesystem i installed to and no change at all, if i make a save from the cd all works with no hassle.

Yes, try creating a save file manually... sorry, but I'm about to leave, so I can't track down the instructions for you.
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

N.B. Puppy 4.3 changed so a save file named pup_save.2fs won't work anymore... you need to rename it to pupsave.2fs I think... not sure exactly how it works, but I'm guessing anything without a _ might work.

manual pupsave creation

#7 Post by tazoc »

The savefile for LHP 443c is 'spupsave.2fs' (s for slackware per /etc/DISTRO_SPECS.) So based on HairyWill's post here is what you can try assuming you want the pupsave on sda1 and have sda1 mounted:

Code: Select all

dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/sda1/spupsave.2fs bs=1k count=65000
mke2fs -q -m 0 -F /mnt/sda1/spupsave.2fs
If your USB drive is 'sdb1' substitute b for a. It's only 64M so you'll want to re-size (Menu | System | Re-size personal...) it on first boot.
Hope that helps,
