I have an idea for promotion of puppy although no ability to execute it.
What about making a link to a website that 'looks like' a puppy desktop.
It would be like 'look before you invest your time, this is what you get' with puppy.
The desktop comes with pre-installed icons, each of these could be a link which gives you a pleasant on-line virtual tour idea of what it is like to use puppy. eg a sample picture in the 'draw' section. Obviously this would not have much functionality as it is just a website and not a virtual machine, but it would make it accesible to curious novices.
Ubuntu now has 'Ubuntu One' which is essentially on-line storage which ties the netbook user to the package holding their email addresses, I am not suggesting that is an ethical practise, but you could use just a shade of the same on-line know-how to demonstrate puppy.
