Code: Select all
gphoto2 -P
According to http://gphoto.sourceforge.net/proj/libg ... upport.php
the A480 is supported. I can't try it as I have no A480. Anyway hope it helps.

It's a small family of programs. You can find Puppy packages here:

If you're looking for something more album like than gphoto2, you might want to try
mounting the camera's filesystem with gphotofs as suggested by zigbert in this thread:

Or try gtkam, it's in the menu & easy to use (make sure to tick off what to save though,
default is 'nothing' ) but it's also buggy and sometimes denies service.

it's the type of implemented 'file-transfer'. for your actual cam, you'll need PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol). The other cams register as mass storage devices (like usb-sticks) and are therefore directly seen by puppy.IsntThatAmusing wrote:well I'm just wondering what is the difference between this camera and the other cameras, that others will cause a "sdb1" icon to pop up on the pinboard, but this one won't.
it's the same as with mp3-players. Some register as mass storage devices some use MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). First could be used like every other mass storage device, the other need additional tools.
this is not that easy (my guess).thanks for all the suggestions and workaround, but ideally what i'd like to happen is that the camera is automatically detected when the camera is plugged in, and the "sdb1" icon will appear on the pinboard so I can access it. i wish i knew more about puppy to solve this issue myself, but i do not.
