Using VLC on a Dell GX110 and it solved a 640x480 full screen flash with gxine on official 431. audio was super, as was video on a Nova future car broadcast via web TV. Appreciate all the work you did to accomplish that performance.
Coupla questions,
a) How could I make it a default player in 431?
-
b) Is it possible to couple VLC to streaming Pup or WebTV for the channel changing features?
There is considerable problems with Menus on 640x480 and while trying to search for controls of Menus, found that the channel changing technique for the above was small executable text files pointing to gxine.
Can something like this technique work for VLC since it has at least two types of stream selections for TV?
I am using a 640x480 scanconverter to 525 line and really need a JWM menu solution also. Would you know of a menu flow chart or location directory names and templates?
It should be easy to correct with a set of XDG templates for all the menus, but so many are obscurely located, in my humble opinion this is a real problem, as have had the same situations trying puppy on laptops.
As an aside, MS doesn't do it much better either, as have some .net applications where the buttons can't be reached in 640 mode.
Thank you for VLC 8.6h

exec gxineshell "$@"
to
exec vlc "$@"
I never tried streaming videos, maybe others can help.
Most the time I compile stuff, release it and move on to the next compile, I do use vlc for watching movies on my wide screen tv, but that's about all i use it for. Not enough hours in a day to get well rounded with all the apps I compile, lol
I still haven't found a better low resource equipped video player than this package. If you figure anything out please inform us on your results. So others might find it handy also
