Where is the old pup001 file?

#1 Post by satimis »

Hi folks,

I can't recall where is the file "pup001" retaining the old data. On next reboot it is still there. Please advise. TIA

Sounds like you tried to erase it. Is that right? What steps did you take?

Hi Flash,

I'm just learning PuppyLinux getting myself more experience on this distro. I came across this file before.

Tks

And? :?

Did you try to erase it or are you just trying to find where Puppy buried it?

Because after reboot (either puppy LiveCD or puppy on USB pendrive) the data on pppoe setup is still there. I wonder where their data are kept. It is supposed to be on pup001 which I came across before. But I could not recall where this file is hidden.

OK, we seem to be making a little headway. You know that there is a pup001 file where your settings are stored, but you don't know where Puppy keeps it.

Now we need to know if you have Windows installed on the computer.

Hi Flash,

I see. I'm running FedoraCore3 (Linux) on the PC.

Good. You may yet tell us what we need to know to answer your question.

Next question: do you know if your hard drive has any partitions formatted ext2 or ext3?

(Instead of playing 20 questions, you could read the FAQ. It discusses where Puppy puts the pup001 file.)
