I installed the french version of puppy linux (toutou linux 4.3.1) on a old laptop a sony vayo PCG-GR214MP, puppy linux is amazing on this laptop, it's really a new life for this.
But, I can't use the touchpad and I am lost, I tried a lot of thing with xorgwizard, but it doesn't work.

If you have a Synaptics touchpad then look in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. You should have section similar to this:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Synaptics Mouse"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "LeftEdge" "1700"
Option "RightEdge" "5300"
Option "TopEdge" "1700"
Option "BottomEdge" "4200"
Option "FingerLow" "25"
Option "FingerHigh" "30"
Option "MaxTapTime" "230"
Option "MaxTapMove" "220"
Option "VertScrollDelta" "100"
Option "MinSpeed" "0.10"
Option "MaxSpeed" "0.30"
Option "AccelFactor" "0.0030"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
#Option "Repeater" "/dev/ps2mouse"
EndSection
If you dont then your touchpad is not being recognized or you have a different type of touchpad.
Also if you have a mouse plugged into your laptop this may cause touchpad problems.

I looked on google too but cant see what kind of touchpad you have.
Some things you could try:
-boot without the usb mouse plugged in and see if your touchpad is recognized.
-if you can still boot xubuntu then have a look at its xorg.conf file and see if it has information about your touchpad.
-try an older version of Puppy

In xubuntu the xorg.conf file should be in the same place as puppy: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
It seems some of the newer versions of xorg don't create an xorg.conf file in ubuntu so if you cant find it you would have to create one. You can do this by running "xorg -configure" (without quotes) in a terminal. This should give you an xorg.conf file which it may be possible to copy to Puppy.

I have the impression that the OP didn't copy daftdog's section of the touchpad in his xorg.conf and tried it.

Thank you for the solved.
I can't find what type of install you have, but if you don't boot from CD, you can edit the kernel line in menu.lst and add acpi=force at the end.

I did a Frugal instalation, cd+ files.
with this can I do something ?
On this laptop I have Xp and xubuntu dual Boot, (xubuntu was my first try with linux)
Can I install Puppy when where is already a dual boot?
When I install Puppy, how can I keep my files and programms installed inPuppy?
Et je passes regulierement sur le forum francophones, mais mon niveau actuel ne me permet pas d'être d'une grande aide.

Not very clear yet, but I understand you boot from CD and have the save file (fichier sauvegarde) on the HDD.
Then When booting you have a 5 second pause. rapidly type a p and then to you can type the rest so the whole should read puppy acpi=force
You have to do this every time you boot from the CD.
