Puppeee 4.3X
It's the experimental flash player that comes with Google Chrome. I can go back to the standard flash player. I am waiting for more feedback about which is superior. Anyone else have an opinion?

RC4 boot error on 701SD
Installed RC4 on 701SD using SD card, first boot works, but when reboot and save to either SD card or SSD hard drive second boot fails with "boot error" just after hitting Esc key. I used a different SD card, same result. So I booted to XP and ran bootinst.bat again.
Puppeee then booted OK, but failed to boot again after saving session. Ran bootinst.bat again and Puppeee has been saving and rebooting (5 or 6 times) just fine since then. Boot error may just be for my 701SD because your 701SD is running RC4.

Thats strange. Flash crashed a lot for me in the previous puppeee's but after she switched to chrome's flash player it hasn't crashed once. One example is playlist.com . The old plugin would always crash when loading the player. Now it loads fine.akbits69 wrote:I'm getting a lot of random 'this flash content has crashed' messages in Chromium. and i remember a thing,1 time while trying to install rc35 it connected auto, but dont remember with which sfs or what i put in usb,coz i was trying to install and tried some different ways with different files
Yeah - I've had a few crashes, and two outright lockups requiring hard reboot. Using a EEEPC701SD. The only extra I installed was Skype2lss wrote:Thats strange. BTW, trying posting a url into bit.ly and you'll notice the flash doesn't work as it might on Firefox with flash installed (ie: the URL doesn't pop up underneath). Not any kind of drama - just a observation / symptom
@jemimah,
thanks for all your trouble, but the 901 seems to be a problem. Did a NEW installation and replaced 1st the vmlinuz Atom with drivers: no detection of runcore sd card. Then I replaced rc.sysinit and got what I got before:
Login [2250]: root Login on 'UNKNOWN'
modprobe: FATAL: /sys is not mounted
And then I have to throw my .3fs file away.
I'm writing this now with Quirky and plug in my runcore external vis USB: drives (partitions) detected an ready to use. So it is possible!
Will do the same with Fluppy later. rgds Horst

I used a 1Gb and a 2Gb SD card. I should mention that my 701SD's original 8Gb SSD died and I installed a Super Talent 16GB MLC Mini 2 PCIe SATA2, and also upgraded the memory to 1Gb which used to be in my 1000H. I will figure out how to do md5sum check over the weekend and reinstall RC4.jemimah wrote:Weird. Is your SD card larger than 512MB?
Something strange is going on here - but the question is what?
The md5sum checked out OK for puppeee-rc4-celeron.zip. I reinstalled RC4 using bootinst.sh with the 1GB SD card in a USB port memory card reader with no problems, several saves and reboots. Then I reinstalled with bootinst.bat directly to the 2Gb SD card slot with no problems. I have downloaded RC4 twice there is the chance I did not use the same .zip file as yesterday.mfalls wrote:jemimah wrote:Weird. Is your SD card larger than 512MB?

Hmm, here's another oddity
Clicking on EEEPC control, I can enable Powersave and Performance, but not Super Performance mode.
This is on a EEEPC 900 with 12GB SSD (whilst it's plugged into AC)
Also, could someone tell me how to reintroduce the full version of Adobe's Flash player (vs the cut down version in chromium)? It handles vimeo very poorly (esp. combined with the no super-performance mode thing above). Do I just choose to install flash player 10.0.22.87 via Puppy package manager? Would this likely improve vimeo / stop intermittent flash crashes? Or should I just wait for the next revision of Puppeee?
(BTW, I have now experienced flash crashing on both my 701 and my 900, though no lock ups on the 900 yet, touch wood. Just a FWIW)

opera 10.60 can use google chrome's flashplugin named libgcflashplayer.so
at /initrd/pup_ro2/opt/google/chrome/libgcflashplayer.so (when you have a pupsave)
need to add/set the path in opera menu>settings>preferences>advanced>content>pluginoptions
may also want to go to
http://macromedia.com/support/documenta ... ger02.html
and confirm that you will be raped and there is nothing you can do about it.
"innocent Your Honor, it was adobe that put all that illegal porn on my computer and i had absolutely no say in the matter."

Only machines with Atom Processors (and the newer Celeron ones) have Super Performance mode. For the Celeron, you can enable overclocking, and then Performance mode will be overclocked - although it crashes on some 4Gs.akbits69 wrote:Hmm, here's another oddity

To get the other flash back, you need to download it - either find a flash9 or flash10 pet on the forum, or download it from adobe and unpack it and copy libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. Then edit /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome, and remove the bit at the bottom that says "--enable-internal-flash".
I got me a 1000P and quite obviously tried Puppeee.
The look and feel is simply amazing and there's little more I can say than "Congratulations and thanks".
I tested all the DistroWatch Top 10 distros on the machine (incl. their eee-variants) and Puppeee's the only one that got the function keys working properly (there's another "thank you"). E.g. none of the *buntus would be able to properly adjust screen brightness. Instead it would change randomly. As is often the case, one has to edit a line in one of the files, but still the brightness is, well, quirky.
I have only one gripe: the screen is 800x600. I gather it's a Xorg issue, and since LuPu, with its newer Xorg, supports the higher resolution, I guess Puppeee will soon be able to do likewise.

Hey jemimah
Thanks on the heads up re: Super performace. Re: flash, you wrote

Can't see anything saying -enable-internal-flash in that file. Yes the Xorg is too old for the GMA3150 found in the PineTrail models, but you should be able to get full resolution in Xvesa. If you can't, please let me know.Slapdash wrote:I got me a 1000P and quite obviously tried Puppeee.

I will build Puppeee 5 hopefully when I finish Puppeee 4.
