puppy 5.1.1

I installed Puppy 5.1.1 in my laptop, but when I configure the sound card or touchpad hangs on reboot

What are the specs of your computer?
How did you install, full HDD, Frugal, or run from CD?

My laptop is ibm Thinkpad r51 with only 256mb ram.
Puppy run from CD.
When I try to configure the touchpad the next restart, it hangs, puppy is loaded into RAM and the message
kernel panic not syncing attempted to kill init

How big is the save file and where are you saving it?

lupusave 1,2 Gb space and 540Mb free and saved in hdd of laptop in mnt/home
