Problem when remaster 5.11

#1 Post by triminh »

Hello...

I have made my own puppy (for my friend's old PC). ( the iso file so lagre 583MB)
and when I started by LiveCD..
I got an error messeage
Performing a switch_root to the layered file system... Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
This PC has 512MB of RAM. And I modified intrid.gz to add pfix=noram (http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=24899) but it seem inefficient.
Can everyone help me???

I THINK the info you need is hare http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... d703ab4507
It relates to a new way Puppy now identifies its files.

ID string can be found in the file /etc/DISTRO_SPECS in your original Puppy. Your new re-master uses the same one.

Hello, there's no ID string in my DISTRO_SPECS,
here is my /etc/DISTRO_SPECS
#One or more words that identify this distribution:
DISTRO_NAME='Lucid Puppy'
#A three-digit numeric value, version number of this distribution:
DISTRO_VERSION=511
#A two-digit numeric value, minor-version number of this distribution:
DISTRO_MINOR_VERSION=00
#The distro whose binary packages were used to build this distribution:
DISTRO_BINARY_COMPAT='ubuntu'
#Prefix for some filenames: exs: lupusave.2fs, lupu-511.sfs
DISTRO_FILE_PREFIX='lupu'
#The version of the distro whose binary packages were used to build this distro:
DISTRO_COMPAT_VERSION='lucid'
#the kernel pet package used:
DISTRO_KERNEL_PET='linux_kernel-2.6.33.2-tickless_smp_patched-L3.pet'

I got nuthin now except maybe this: take a look at the original sfs file, what, luci_236.sfs or whatever, and compare it with the re-master. They should both have the same name exactly, check that the re-master has the same delimiter as the original, the character between the luci and the version number. If the original has an underscore, then so must the re-master. If the original has a hyphen, then so must the remaster. If it is different, just re-name it.
