Hi there! So I've upgraded my laptop to something with a monstrous battery, light/small form factor, nice screen, docking station and slick aluminium exterior (wow this laptop is nice ) and I'd like to stick with puppy. Now I'm currently using Ubuntu as I cannot get my wireless to work! I'm unsure what chip I have, I'm 99% sure it's intel and is capable of wireless 'N'.
lspci returns much information, including the following line;
Network controller: Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300
Is there some way I can download a module for puppy to enable this hardware? The derivative I prefer is turbopup 1.0 (based on 4.20). Probably because my old PC is a compaq armada.
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers,
Hamish

Run the network wizard and tell us exactly what you see.

Hey, I also have one of those Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300's - in this laptop I'm on right now, an HP Elitebook. I've been using Slacko 5.6 and 5.7 & those seem to select the iwlwifi driver. Seems to be working alright for me. Sometimes it's slow to connect to an open, unencrypted wifi network - slower than accessing an encrypted signal w/password etc. Using simple SNS didn't get a result, but using Frisbee usually works ok. Once connected, dropouts are rare for me.
