Font Names -- 10x20 -- [solved]

#1 Post by don922 »

These are the Type 1 fonts which were included in Puppy 4.12

Which, if any, of the fonts shown in the graphic below would be the font called 10x20?

Would it be possible to provide a list of the names of all of these fonts?

Where can I find what common names correspond to each file?

misc fonts

#2 Post by Minimatter »

The 10x20 and similar fonts are public domain "misc" fonts distributed with the X window system. They are located in /usr/X11R7/lib/X11/fonts/misc.

Some further information on them is in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed_(typeface)

(This reply was blank up to now. Seems the message body didn't get in the first time, or after several attempts to edit.)

Minimatter in a PM advised me:

Based on this information my original post in this thread is not correct. The fonts are not Type 1 Fonts.

Excellent choice Don.

I've tried many font faces in the terminal emulators, but the 10x20 seems
the best equally spaced bitmap font for the job. At least for us people who
have eye damage from too much CRT
