What procedure did you use to install the file and did you do a search to see if it was still there.
You will have to run ldconfig for it to be recognised.

Just open a terminal by clicking on Console and type in ldconfig.

I have problems with your statement 'full install' as this isn't possible on a pen drive.
Can you explain in detail how you did it?

Hi Béèm
Well I downloaded from www.diddywahdiddy.net 5.526 iso using unetbootin installed and tried for a couple of days on a 2gb pen then with the install wizard puppy universal installer install to my 8gb pen where i am now does this help to clarify.

The install wizard doesn't permit a FULL install on a pen drive.
So I am pretty sure you have a FRUGAL install, but without a save file.
Hence the install of the lib isn't retained.

When you first shut down a pen drive it asks you if you want to save your settings and gives you the option of creating a save file.

dalebednell,
So a FRUGAL install after all.
Can you post the contents of /etc/rc.d/PUPSTATE and the one of /etc/rc.d/BOOTCONFIG here.

So you have a save file.
Did you set by accident the save interval to 0 in the Puppy Event Manager?

Then I don't understand why this lib doesn't stick after install.
If you create a text file in /root, put some text in it and save it, is it still there on next boot?

hmmm.
Can you issue the command ls /usr/lib -l |grep libXss in a terminal and post the output here.
