Launchbar Margin [SOLVED]
Launchbar Margin [SOLVED]
Hi All,
I'm a complete Puppy newbie. I just downloaded and installed it and I think it's great!
I have made good progress in setting it up the way I prefer except for one (probably very simple) thing.
I set the launchbar/panel at the bottom to autohide. When I use a browser, however, and want to click on something at the bottom (on the addon/statusbar in Firefox for example) I can't because the launchbar will unhide when the mouse cursor is still quite far away from it.
So, my question is: how do I shrink that margin so that the launchbar only unhides when my mouse cursor is at the bottom of the display?
Thank you.

Always report which puppy you use.

Maybe there is a setting in the openbox config or the fbpanel setting.

I am not in 5.2.5, but I remember some setting to limit the desktop space to certain sizes as to exclude the system tray height. But I am not sure this was in 5.2.5

Thanks for those last two suggestions, guys.
I am using Openbox.
Just in case I did not make myself clear, the autohide is successful. My problem is that whenever the cursor comes near to the taskbar (about double its height it seems) then the taskbar pops-up and obscures the bottom part of the browser.
That's an issue if I want to click anything there. So, I'd like the unhide to only kick in when I hover at the very edge of the bottom of the display.
I could just make the taskbar always visible, but I like a lot of real estate for the browser.

I am in spup 120 (jwm) and there autohide work well.
It is only when I touch the bottom of the screen that the tray pops up.
I remember having such a problem, but it was when the tray was on the top.
However I don't remember if it was in JWM, KDE or Openbox/FB

I booted 5.2.5 and see the issue.
I don't see how it can be prevented for the tray to pop up only when the cursor touches the bottom. What can be done is configure openbox to not permit to use the space of the tray. Not what is wanted.
Otherwise, report the issue in the bugs section in he thread about 5.2.5

Re: Launchbar Margin
Until you fix this, you should be able to set firefox to a higher layerChriske wrote:I set the launchbar/panel at the bottom to autohide. priority. I'm using JWM, so I can't tell you how for sure.
But I think you should have an option to layer higher, try right clicking on
the title bar and see what it gives.

Many thanks Bruce B.
I just tried your suggestion and by right-clicking in the Firefox titlebar there is indeed a Layer option.
Unfortunately, none of the three alternatives (on top, normal, bottom) made any difference.
~
I've decided to take the option that was probably implicit in the advice that you all gave and I've switched to JWM. Hey presto, problem solved! As a newbie I'm easy either way as regards Openbox and JWM, so this solution suits me.

It is an openbox issue.
And again I advice to open a thread in the special 5.2.5 thread in the bugs section. You will probably have more attention from the developer.
