If you can not mount and write the NTFS using Pmount, it could indicate a problem with that FS.
Running
dmesg could show the problem mounting that NFS, surely you´ll find a meesage about NTFS is inconsistent and asking you to run a run chkdsk /f on Windows.
Also try to mount the NFTS manually to check for any error return using:
Code: Select all
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows -t ntfs -o rw

Have you seen any error with dmesg?, mounting from command lines shows something unusual?
Could you try with a older 214X version, maybe something earlier than top series.?

Thanks for the assistance Clarf.
There were no problems with the NTFS drives/partitions.
I've physically relocated that drive to my second
machine for further evaluation and experienced no
problems at all with XP checking the drive and read/write
operations.
I've added another drive to my present machine and
have formatted and partitioned it as ext3 so as to be
able to create large files and have full access from
all of my Puppies.
The Windows programs I most use for convenience
in processing video files run well with Wine so I'm
able to gain access to those on the ext3 drive without
any problems.
As I continue to use TOP8 I've noticed a couple of strange
quirks and I'm wondering whether it's my machine or
something else?
YouTube videos play painfully slow from Firefox in
TOP8 - only Puppy 3.01 has so far been able to play
YouTube at a near normal speed on my rig.
Certain web page graphics come up in Firefox as
a randomized square/rectangle of multi-colored pixels
- this is a first as I've not encountered that with any of
the other Pups.
Would it be possible to replace Pwget in TOP with
Pwsget? It's very nice to be able to include user
and password for those downloads that require them.
