Puppy Phone - VOIP using SIP
@russoodle,
Alsamixer will work with the "tab" key to scroll through the different screens.
With alsamixer open and in focus on the desktop....
Tab once for capture
Tab twice for all controls.
Standard arrow keys will change selection and adjust levels.
I have no idea about Mac's f-keys...sorry
Eric
I have no joy on usb with newer puppy versions....dunno why but it's probably a kernel module that is needed.

That's high level setting....play around with that to find your sweet spot with your equipment.What do the red sections mean in the alsa config window? Same as for a tacho? Because i had quite a few of those..

@Sylvander,
I suspect your usb problem may lie in the puppy version kernel modules and not with psip.
Maybe we should post into their threads for help on usb headsets
Eric
@jamesbond,
Grant and I had a clear voice conversation with your new file. He was on 32bit and I was on 64bit.....hooray!!

GUI - I've still not fathomed the significance of the pecked lines which appear and disappear around the margins of the main buttons, which I presume are intended to convey that the button is depressed. What is the underlying process which controls their appearance and disappearance?
Following the unexplained loss of speech channels reported a couple of days ago which I suspected was down to traffic constraints on my part of the internet route, I have been using the IPTel voicemail response recording as a test vehicle. In the last few days it has been taking 3 or 4 shots to get the voice, has anyone else experienced this?
In the last few hours I have had a better hit rate with this, (with a corresponding improvement in the Traceroute report), but still sometimes requiring a few attempts.
Caneri has kindly called me to invite me to download a file from his server (with top quality voice, once we were connected) but I have been unable to land the download - Caneri, has anyone else downloaded this from your server?. As a sanity check I made a routine download of other stuff elsewhere successfully ... but when I tried as a further test to download standard Puppy stuff, oops, the ibiblio server is reporting itself crashed. Mmm, this at time when the Linux foundation server has been U/S for several days, funny old week.

Yes dogle,
You need to right click and "save link as" to get the file. Then tell your puppy where to save the file in your directory/file manager...or tell the browser where to save from the browser settings.
There is no mime extension on that file so right click to get download.
I'll be online for a bit to help you if you wish..Eric

- The files you mention here, are they only available from your site?
- Are the new files replacements for current PSIP modules\?
Hi All,
I didn't want to release the test psip until the author releases it to the public.
So far it's working well but is still very new.....It should be able to be released soon for testing.

EDIT: See Smokey's post here...a few posts down.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 931#564931
Pets are now available.
Ok all you chatty people.
Jamesbond has agreed to let the public have a whack at his new Psip.
There is no extension on these files so "right click" and "save link as" to download.
Grant will probably make .pets soon so you can wait if you wish.
psip is 64 bit and psip32 is 32bit.
After downloading you will need to make the file executable by right clicking on the file.....go to permissions and select "a+x (Make executable/searchable):
I hope this is correct...E
PS...to go online press the red "Offline" button and it will change to green "Online" after you have entered your sip account information in Preferences > Account
PSS...to hear a sound when someone calls add this as follows....
"aplay /usr/share/sounds/join.wav" without quotes to Preferences > Misc Settings > Command to execute on ring in the new Psip.
You can have any sound file you point the command to...I'll try to find a good ringer sound....what fun!!
From the Author,
Based on version [2e7cca5a72], both 32-bit and 64-bit.
Changes:
- miscellaneous bug fixes related to call and presence
- instant messaging
- some configuration items:
a) play audio file on incoming call
b) pjsua loglevel options
c) audio device selection

Hello Eric
i think number 15 is the best. (old phone ring 10 mp3)
CatDude
.
You will find a few 'old' style rings here: http://ava7.com/2006/10/phone-ring-sounds.htmlCaneri wrote:..You can have any sound file you point the command to...I'll try to find a good ringer sound....what fun!!

Caneri or other psip32 user. Does the command to execute the ring need the binary given which to use for playing the audio file, like: mplayer /usr/local/psip32/old-phone-ring10.mp3 or just the audio file location /usr/local/psip32/old-phone-ring10.mp3 and the aplay or something else is buried inside the psip32 binary which plays the audio file ?
Hiya CatDude...Thanks...I like the old time ringer phone sound.
I can't decide which though...
@pemasu,
I think it best if jamesbond answer your question.
I don't know much about the media players.

Would it be good idea to update Lobsters first post so that it has download link for Smokey01`s psip-0.26.pet.
Done
Tried the fatdog 32bit in Slacko
- it ran but that is about all - maybe I did not get my settings in right?
The layout seems very simplified and obvious
conference call today Sunday 18th September 2011 at 1300h GMT daylight saving time
this is a voice messaging service that may get big
Did not work for me - still in beta

@testers,
Re: psip64
I just experienced a problem with calls not going through (blinking out) and connecting or login and log-off hanging causing a large cpu load of 55%..
The new 64bit psip worked perfectly all day so I am guessing it's the sip server at Iptel....dunno.

Here are the latest PET's for Psip32 and Psip64.
Psip32
http://www.smokey01.com/software/intern ... 32-0.2.pet
Psip64
http://www.smokey01.com/software/intern ... 64-0.2.pet
The preference button is currently broken, or it is on my machine when running Fatdog64-5.2.
Menu>Internet>Psip64
Run it and close it right away. A .psip.conf will be created in the /root directory.
It will look like this:
You can manually edit the file by adding your details to this.
Notice I have attached bell.zip. Rename this to bell.mp3 and place it in your root directory and it will play when you get an incoming call providing you have Pmusic installed. It's not a ZIP file.
The 32bit version you can either manually edit the psip.conf file to include the bell or use the preference button as it works.
Please post any issues on this forum.
Thanks
