Someone else needs to debug bluetooth connections. For me, I have found better way to do file transfers. I handle that way all our families music transfers to the cell phones. My kids have been satisfied. And I get their music.
BT is the only connection possibility to my cell phone.
I don't have the USB cable.
Hopefully Stu90 can shed some light.

I downloaded it using Sfs Apps Loader (I had to also download JRE).

Then I noticed that going through Menu - Document - Document Utilities - "Get LibreOffice download and install LibreOffice" is built into 5X7

I am curious as to how the third method approves upon these two.

It's not a criticism, I am just curious - perhaps I should remove the LibreOffice and jre SFS's and use Micko's because it is better integrated?

Note to pemasu:

you can delete the file
/usr/share/applications/mtPaint-snapshot-screen-capture.desktop

I should have done that automatically when psnapshot is installed

Here are some more changes to the exit command
to properly exit from the applications.

line 525 of /usr/sbin/Bootmanager
change 'exit' to 'exit 0'

/usr/sbin/sfsgetmgr
change all references of 'exit 1' to 'exit 0'
using your text editor

Thanks don570. As Edoc found out, I have already included 01mickos get_libreoffice. I had to change wget binary to get it actually working, fixed, tested version is in 5.X.7.
Mine Libreoffice sfs has been done by using 01mickos nice app, I only modified the DOTdesktop files and some other stuff so that I have one subfolder meny entries.
01mickos nice app downloads and creates the sfs of latest version. So...you can easily create new version yourself, when you notice that there is new update.

Edoc. There isnt any right method. These are choices. Download ready made sfs or create your own latest libreoffice sfs using that Get Libreoffice menu entry. You decide and you know your needs.

Thanks don470 of checking the scripts. That is valuable work. Not many has motivation and interest and understanding to do it. We all appreciate your work.

Don570. In fact I pondered between Psnapshot or older Mtpaint-snapshot. Because I have also PupSnapshot, I decided to leave that Mtpaint-snapshot there so that there is less confusion. But of course I respect your wish also.
It is not that big deal.

I will include the fixes to the next version or to the UPDATE pet.

About that enlightenment news. My oldest son has PS3. I am not sure though that he let me tinker with his PS3. He has bought it with his own earned money and its his most valuable thing.

I like the idea of choices! :-)

Does mickos method add LibreOffice to the Menu and/or make it the default word processor and/or anything else helpful like that?

Does mickos method use SFS or does it embed LibreOffice into 5X7 in a way that uses more personal storage or in a way that may make it difficult to remove or to troubleshoot than a SFS which is readily added or removed when testing?

I am trying to gather the variables necessary to evaluate a choice between the methods.

Thanks! :-)

01mickos app creates the sfs to the /mnt/home. I does not fatten your savefile or puppy. It works as all sfs works.
It does not change the /usr/local/bin/default* content. In fact, we have learnt that it is impossible task due to sfs inability to overwrite existing files.

You need to do it manually.

I might create a pet to do it and also add missing mime types and rox right clicks for the files, but not tonight.

Don't know if this will help - In Lucid 529 and possibly others, Quickpet V4.5 has feature called sfs grabber - SFS Grabber-0.2.
When you select this, a window is opened with following:
Your SFS will be automatically converted to a pet that you will be prompted to install.

When issuing commands like sdptool or hcitool, nothing seems to execute and there are no error messages.
I tried also bluetooth-properties and bluetooth-wizard.
Same result.
And yes the BT dongle is plugged in the USB port.

There is no bluetooth icon in the tray.
Hi Béèm,
For some reason unbeknown to me i couldn't get the bluetooth.pet to work as an .sfs - so i recommend using t as a .pet only for time being - i really don't know much of anything about bluetooth i just have a very cheap generic bluetooth dongle i bought from ebay for £1 (looks the same to this one)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-Bluetooth ... 19-2177837

I have only installed bluetooth in D-lite and Lucid lite - i will download latest Exprimo and test it out.

In the mean time first thing to try is running script /root/Startup/bluetooth in terminal

stu90,

I did try also the pet, but the sdptool and hcitool commands didn't run.
Maybe they will after doing the start of bluetooth.

But as said in my previous post about the subject, when the pet is transformed to a sfs those commands did run.
hcitool gave the mac address of the phone, but sdptool did give a protocol error.

But I will try again with the pet.

I think when installed before, I didn't have enough space in the save file.

Now I get messages:

I also see that L2CAP and RFCOMM is needed.
I don't have those modules in 5X7SMP or in the pet package.
Specially RFCOMM is interesting as it is needed for DUN as far as I understand.

And as a side effect, SeaMonkey is complaining now that the dbus-daemon isn't running now, so no config info can be saved.
So there seems to be a conflict with the daemon started by bluetooth.

I also wonder how I have to pair the PC with the phone.
This is what I have to do in Windows to get the connection working.

From the phone the PC bluetooth is found, but I have to enter the access key. The one I am used to in the phone when powering on isn't accepted.
And I don't see what the access key is in this bluetooth pet.
When trying to do so I get:

Code: Select all

Beem. I will check if those bluetooth kernel modules were included. If not, I will compile them as modules and upload the pet. I can then include them to kernel pet later.
BUt right now, I dont know or remember were those modules included.

They are definitively kernel module drivers. Thats what I know.

Hi folks !
My intend now is to report about useful apps or tools i found and tried out.

Here i want to advertise a little (but powerful) tool called SWAPFILE-MANAGER.
It works like a (virtual) ram extender-expansion.

I am just a linux beginner and i am thankful learning from other peoples experinces
Ok.... so i want share my experince with a little tool called Swapfile-manager.

Here is what i did , and how i used it.

My computer is a toshiba laptop with 1 gigabyte of ram. DPupexprimo is installed to USB stick- 4 gigabyte memory.

I am working with this audio recording and editing app "audacity".
With audacity i used to stream and record quite large audio Wave files from internet.
(sometimes 30 minutes as wave file)
Before i used this swapfile -manager, oftenly, when wavestreams became to large, the Audacity app collapsed and went off.

Since using these little devil, my machines ram , works like on steroids.

Now i am able to handle (wave) files in large sizes ,i couldn`t do this never before. Now i can record and edit my favorite music even if the files became really big.

This little tool REALLY makes me happy.......and i hope it will do this to anybody else too .

I also posted this on macpuppy forum cause i am using on one USB stick
DpupExprimo on another stick Macpup 528.

Swapfile manager works on both.

Have a nice day !

Hi Pemasu / Béèm,
Tested bluetooth .pet in Exprimo 5x7 - my phone is detected in bluetooth search but i am unable to make a connection to it, usually what happens is PC generates a pin code and sends it to phone then the two pair and make a secure connection but this is not happening the gui just errors out with connection failed and no pin code is generated / sent.

Worth mentioning D-Lite uses a different (Iguleder compiled) kernel to Exprimo - looking in
/lib/modules/2.6.39/kernel/net/bluetooth i notice these kernel moduels are not there in Exprimo:
bnep.ko
hidp.ko
rfcomm.ko

I have attach below o content of /lib/modules/2.6.39/kernel/net/bluetooth directory in D-lite - i tried to copy these to Exprimo but this doesn't work.
http://www.mediafire.com/?jxusd4898rfejjj
cheers.

Thanks for your interest.

Quite some time ago I had some success with BT and remember now it was in Fluppy.
So I booted Fluppy 13 and indeed I have the BT icon in the tray.
My phone is detected and a pin code is generated, which I have to type in the phone to get them paired.
I can send and retrieve files to/from the phone.

l2cap and rfcomm modules are there and loaded.
Kernel is 2.6.35-7

Thanks stu90 and Beem. I am compiling those bluetooth modules now.
I will make a pet of those. The needed stuff were in one clear section. Barry Kauler seem not to include those in his Wary Racy. I concentrated in wireless modules and acer aspire one modules, and since I dont use bluetooth, I didnt check the situation of bluetooth modules. But now I have and compiling is in process....

About Fluppy, yes... Jemimah created the working framework for Fluppy, but it is not possible to just copy that stuff from it and expect it to work. I am afraid there will be library incompatibilities.
