How Do I Share Files from Windows/Creating Desktop Icons

#1 Post by chrisino »

Hi,

I am having difficulty sharing files between Windows 7 and Lucid.

None of my folders are password protected.

Am I going things correctly?

1.Click on Pnethood Samba Shares
2.Scans for network
3.Finds Windows PC but can't find any shares. Log file says NT Status Access Denied. Any ideas why?

Also how do I create shortcut items to place on the desktop?

Cheers

You are doing it right. But sharing with Windows has always been a crap-shoot. There can be subtle differences in how Windows enables its shares that affect how Puppy detects them.

Are the shares visible from other Windows machines?

You can also try YASSM, but I suspect that it won't work any better.

Yes, worked a treat on XP and 98.

Tried YASSM but don't understand it to be honest.

Any other ideas?

Please explain. Are you saying that the Win7 shares are visible on both XP and 98 machines? Or that Puppy can see shares on those machines?

Windows 7 can share files with PC's running XP and Windows 98.

Puppy finds the Windows 7 machine but can't share files.

Are there any shares on the XP machine? Have you tried using Pnethood to mount them?
