I've been following the Wallstreet Occupation from day one, two weeks ago.
And cried often.

This is the livestream: http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution

Yes, we are the 99%!

What is it going to change though?

Exactly.
Now that they've gotten attention, they need to focus on messaging.
Protests mean nothing if objectives aren't clearly stated.

I think their continuing presence at Liberty Plaza is enough message for now.

But if you read the site, watch some interviews, youtubes, ect, it would be difficult not to see the message

Here's an article attempting to describe the demands: http://www.goldstockbull.com/articles/7 ... ll-street/

Even CNN is diminishing the amount of ridicule in its reporting:

http://edition.cnn.com/2011/10/03/polit ... index.html

Personally I was much inspired by the Chris Hedges interview in Liberty Park:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SKw2j3XOY0

Yes, they're facing a huge, seemingly impossible task, but so does the planet!

Proposed List Of Demands For Occupy Wall St Movement!

#9 Post by Bill_Gates »

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.

Thanks Bill.

Just to be sure: these demands are proposals, nothing is definite yet, as far as I can see.

In this article Alex Pareene proposes one radical but intelligent demand for Occupy Wall St:

Well there might be more money for iPads, food, etc, but what about houses, autos, and other such big ticket items?

@Bill_Gates, you ideas are a courageous step in the right direction. Its one of the few times in recent years that I've seen someone in the US look to promote fairness in its society's behavior. Good Luck, maybe others will get enough backbone to want to see a fair and balanced approach within its society.

One item that has struck me as an approach that would work in the US was proposed by one of its Senators few years ago. FLAT TAX!

But, the rich of your country was able to shut that down. Wonder if any group in America who says they stand for America is willing to "Stand for America" and demand a flat tax. This would be a beginning of doing something other than what they've currently done which would benefit the citizenry.

Right now, the problem is that the Political climate is affecting everything including World Markets because of its behavior.

So Sad.

Also, I agree with the other 7 point article that was referenced. But, that does not translate to anything most citizens will understand whereas Bill's suggestion(s) would.

Let's hope that we begin to see a change that has a positive spread throughout the world versus the isolationism, protectionism, and unbridled selfishness we have seen that has contributed to the amazing imbalance that exist.

Shoot the mechanic when driver incompetence is the cause of the accident. Try occupy the white house or congress and you might even start to find a solution.

I have lived through a number of minimum wage increases that were supposed to help the worker.
Each time a minimum wage increase was done, the cost of goods the consumer/worker bought immediately went up in relation to that raise.
So the worker was no better off and a lot of times worse financially that if he had not got a minimum wage increase.
I remember making 1.75 and hour, paying $75.00 a month rent and purchasing hamburger for 39 cents a pound.
And I actually felt I lived better then than when I made more money and had to pay more for goods and housing.

I don't know why anyone would take such a list seriously, when so much wasn't included (free drugs, the right for clean laundry, etc). What we need is still more government assistance. It worked so well in Greece...we're almost there.

BTW/ Bill...those are NOT the proposed list of demands for the Occupy Wall St Movement (obviously)
