Grub4Dos problems

#1 Post by svgt »

Hi,

I have managed a full install with a lot of Puppies. The last one was Lucid 5.2.8. There are several other non-puppy Linux installations on the same disk drive. But this time there were strange options in the Grub installation. Strange or new, the result is no correct menu.lst for any Linux and no success with booting.

What would be the shortest way, to install Grub into the mbr?
The trick with calling grub in the console with the parameters root and setup does not work. I think because of changed menu.lst position

Regards

If you want to use legacy GRUB instead of GRUB4DOS, make a folder /boot/grub at the root of your partition. Then locate the folder /usr/lib/grub/i386-pc and copy all the files inside to the folder /boot/grub.

Now you should be able to run the GRUB emulator from the console.

I have no problems using Grub4dos Bootloader config, to set up a boot loader, that makes entries for other operating systems installed on my computer.

Give specific details how you run Grub4dos Bootloader config.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
