So the menu project is still running but needs time to release.
Regard the Internet Conniction - i do use now a cheaper solution for general use of internet. Only for uploads i have to use the expensive one - because of its speed.
I do use a desktop pc with most internal hard disk. It is not possible to me to work on my projects and use the internet outside home. Earlier i sometimes use internet cafe but in fact of one visitor did download illegal files the internet cafe owner was sentenced to pay a penalty about 5000,- Euro high. Now he did close all possibilities to download files from anywhere. Even my own files stored at mediafire are now unable to download.
This internet cafe has been the only location where i could boot my LazY Puppy to work online.
When will the translation be finished?

I am glad to be back with LazY Puppy too. But i have had to make a break again (the last 5 days). I did surely work too much between joining the forum and releasing LazY Puppy. And after that as well.nancy reagan wrote:Hi RSH glad you're back.
Should you still be on that expensive gprs connection this might be a hint ?
Here in Holland we have a lot of -free- wifi connections in libraries (Bibliotheken ohne Abonnement) und restaurants (Mac Donalds, Raststaette ?).
Taking it that Kassel is a relative big town, I presume you have them too. Why not give it a try. A cup of coffee or a glass of beer is probaly much cheaper than 1 minute on gprs (Aldi talk ?).

All menu entries of the LazY Puppy sfs files are edited to get all the programs into the LazY Puppy sfs menu. You have to edit these files to get the audi programs into the multimedia menu.
To use bristol do use jack audio connection. Start jack first and after starting bristol synthesizer connect the synthesizer via jack to the system. Use the synthesizers at the jack tab.
BTW. The jack entries inside the LazY Audio SFS are only .desktop files. Jack itself is installed in LazY Puppy. So you have to install jack audio first - if not already done.

I have made an ISO based on Three Headed Dog and pursuing the concept of Lazy Puppy. All sfs's and its programs do work - except open shot. Open shot misses all librarys. I did install most of the Lazy Puppy sfs's and made a remaster. It is about 650 mb and works fine.darkcity wrote:Hi RSH, I've loaded your Audio SFS on music2go pup. Works rather well (just tweaked the menu). The only problem is Bristol GUI AKS and Mixer are the only working virtuals - if I click on another a window the correct size opens, but then close Twisted Evil
any ideas?

So actually i am unable to do any work on this. I will post a link to the folder at mediafire at the lazarus thread. Maybe panoss returns and will be able to install CodeTyphon and do some work on this.

Yes, i have downloaded and tested CodeTyphon. The .pet is too big to install on my computer (not enough ram and swap). The sfs that i did build did not work.tatamata wrote:RSH, have you tested CodeTyphnon PET I have sent you? Is there any chance to solve cross-compiling from Linux to Windows?

Quick Report
A quick report:
Posting this via a frugal install of LazyPuppy. Hard disk installation to a spare ext3 partition/folder was fine - no problems. I added it to menu.lst manually. I am mainly interested in LazyPuppy to program in Pascal.
First Impressions:
The SFS-direkt load needs some work. I had to put all the downloaded sfs files in /root so the loader would see them. When I tried to install, I could only accept the default copy location. Choosing 'RAM' or 'NOCOPY' gave errors. I could only load 6 sfs files before LazyPuppy complained.
I fired up Lazarus, and wrote a quick 'Hello World' application, but it would not run. I need to know the correct linker options for Lazy-Lazarus i guess.
Most of the other menu applications worked fine.
Hardware: Gigabyte EP45T-DS3R, 4GBRAM, Quad core Intel 2.8GHz, GeForce9800.

For those willing to download and test CodeTyphon Lazarus/FPC distribution, here is a PET:
http://www.4shared.com/file/U5ryH2fy/Co ... n-240.html
If missing libraries, here are needed libraries:
http://www.4shared.com/file/rxSOsfAe/Co ... -Libs.html
CodeTyphon is basically Lazarus with additional tools and much more components included.

Please:
1. Copy all the sfs files into directory of lazy_528.sfs.
2. Or do use the LazY Puppy Preferences GUI in the LazY Puppy Menu to set the path's of the sfs files
I do use it the 1. way all the time and there is just one click after starting wanted sfs file via SFS-direkt load. Never had any problem.
You might need the BugFix for the Preferences GUI if downloaded LazY Puppy earlier at mediafire!
Go to the LazY Puppy Info & Update Center. The Link is in almost every post of mine.

This limitation is a lucid puppy based limitation. I did already several times use all ten sfs files (without pupsave) and there were no problems at all.minesadorada wrote:I could only load 6 sfs files before LazyPuppy complained.
Do use the LazY528-devx4.sfs or the LazY528-devx4-GMB271.sfs to work with Lazarus.minesadorada wrote:I fired up Lazarus, and wrote a quick 'Hello World' application, but it would not run. I need to know the correct linker options for Lazy-Lazarus i guess.

@RSH I will follow your instructions and get back to you.
Would it be useful to you if I tested other parts of Lazy Puppy and reported back here? If so, let me know if you need any particular information about my testing environment, and how to extract it in postable form.
I am not a linux 'expert' - simply a new (ex-windows) user.

Success!
Here's what I did:
1 ) Tried booting into Lazy Puppy, but the result was 'Kernel Panic' as soon as it accessed my sda7/LazyFolder/pupsave file.
2 ) Booted into 3HD and:
a ) Deleted the sda7/LazyFolder/pupsave file
b ) Moved all the SFS files to sda7/LazyFolder/
3 ) Rebooted into Lazy Puppy successfully
4 ) Set prefs in startup dialog (English UK)
5 ) Installed PETS 'lazy 528 prefs en fix' and also 'Lazy 528 new Quickinstall'
6 ) Lazy SFS Direkt load 'Lazy 528 Devx' (no problem installing)
7 ) Lazy SFS Direkt load 'Lazarus and Free Pascal' (no problem installing)
9 ) Started up Lazarus, and wrote a quick GUI 'Hello World' app (form, buttons and Messagedialog)
The 'Hello World' app ran and compiled successfully - hurrah!
Thank you RSH for the advice. It seems very important to put the downloaded SFS files into the frugal directory before installing them.
==edit== I dragged the 'Hello World' executable to the desktop and it stayed there. I was also able to right-click the desktop link and drag an icon to it. It worked direct from the desktop.
==edit1== I copied the helloworld executable into a different partition, and rebooted into Slacko. In slacko, I clicked the executable and 'Hello World' worked perfectly.
This confirms that simple GUI executables made in Lazarus need no external files/libraries distributed with them to work - they are standalone.
==edit2== In Slacko, I switched window manager from JWM to OpenBox. HelloWorld worked fine. In Openbox, the dialog is centred, whereas in JWM the dialog is top left - a minor difference.
Fantastic! I am now a happy Pascal Linux proto-programmer,. Thanks RSH for making it possible, and above all - easy.

Btw: i did test Lazrus and FPC in 4 or five different puppies. Lucid, Puppy Studio (lucid based), Slacko, Wary...
It works and works and works and works...
But only in LazY Puppy you will get the menu item and (did you see that?) the full documentation inside the guides menu!
Create file 'lazysave-none.2fs' or lazysave-none.3fs' related to what you have chosen as sav efile (2fs, 3fs) inside directory of your save file. After this LazY Puppy thinks you have two different save files and gives option to choose save file at boot up. Then you can choose '0' for no save file and create a new save file when rebooting. So you can create different save files for different uses. if needed.
I do use my LazY Puppy on 4 different computers. I always boot them from usb stick and do have all the files on usb stick. Only my Music Computer runs LazY Puppy using save file. On every other Computer i run LazY Puppy without save file to 100%.
I did optimize it as good as i was able for to use it that way.
Please use LazY Puppy just like you want to and (maybe) be happy with LazY Puppy. If you are running into a problem, you can post here and inform me. That would be ok.
But there is one favor you could do to me: Send me as much as you can of you 'not classified' pascal sources (from time to time). I am sure it would help a lot to get my pascal knowledge transformed from ST Pascal plus to Lazarus/FPC. This would be very nice!
If you are interested, i could upload my 'RSHs DTP Suite', programmed in ST Pascal plus that contains a DTP Musical Score Editor with integrated Text Editor , Image Editor and Script Language. This one has about 75.000 Lines of code.
I always do dream of re-inventing this one for puppy...

If you (or anybody else) are downloading RSHs-DTP-Suite you have to accept the following:
All Programs by RSH (the ST Pascal plus Programs with existing Source Code) can be used under the GPL v.2.
However, the .tar.gz contains files that uses own licences (freeware, shareware, public domain etc). These files are not under GPL - no matter which version of GPL!
I think, this is old and maybe "dead" stuff, so maybe nobody will mind, what you do or how you use this. But just to take care, please accept the licenses of this maybe "dead" stuff!
Informations to RSHs DTP Suite
RSHs AITE - Advanced Integrated Text Editor, Texteditor for ST PASCAL +
RSHs BND - simple and useful Database, Adress-, LP, Club etc.
RSHs Draw - simple Full-Screen Paintprogram ("inverting-bug" under TOSBox after file load)
RSHs Maus - Editor for Mouseforms to save and use in ST PASCAL +
RSHs NewLib - own created libraries for ST PASCAL +
RSHs Lib - own created AES & VDI based libraries for ST PASCAL +
RSHs SCORE - Score-Editor for Drum-Scores and other Musical-Scores, integrated Scriptlanguage, save Documents as Script and rebuild them after loading the script;
RSHs Snapshot - Screenshot Accessory
RSHs XDraw - window based Paintprogram (all fine)
RSHs XShell - Pascal Shell (like RSHs Aite, without Texteditor, my Favorit, because of RSHs AITE can only load 32768 lines max.;
All Programs containing full Source Code for ST PASCAL + plus about 200 pages Documentation for RSHs SCORE (German)
Download .tar.gz file and extract to drive C or sda1. Open c:\Dateien\AtariST and run TB.exe.
Must use Windows 98, 98SE, ME or XP! XP might be a bit buggy by using RSHs ScoreIt Script Language.
TOSBox (TB.exe) does not work in wine!
Some hard facts:
76545 Lines of Code in 43 Modules (SCORE)
1041 Procedures und Functions
14927 Lines of Code in 123 Modules (GUI)
384 Procedures und Functions
15887 Lines of Code (RSHs ScoreIt Scriptlanguage) in 7 Modules
219 Procedures und Functions
191 RSHs ScoreIt Script Commands
33 Objekttypes
31 Score-Heads (BD,SD,HH,Cym etc. upper category)

Re: LazY Puppy 5.2.8-4
My route was through TP5, TPW then Delphi. My workplaces exclusively used Windows generations. I have plenty of Delphi source, but it doesn't import into Lazarus very cleanly so far.RSH wrote:...
But there is one favor you could do to me: Send me as much as you can of you 'not classified' pascal sources (from time to time). I am sure it would help a lot to get my pascal knowledge transformed from ST Pascal plus to Lazarus/FPC. This would be very nice!

I've just upgraded my RAM (to16GB) so my system has been offline for a bit. I'll see if I have any useful code for you when I get a better chance to play.
There doesn't seem to be a well-defined system Ubuntu/Puppy API, but Lazarus 'wraps' functions and datatypes up, so it doesn't really matter for simple programs.
Hmm, I don't really know...minesadorada wrote:\Racy 5.1 frugal install: CodeTyphoon Libs installed OK, but CodeTyphoon 240 pet would not install.tatamata wrote:For those willing to download and test CodeTyphon Lazarus/FPC distribution, here is a PET:

If missing libraries, here are needed libraries:

CodeTyphon is basically Lazarus with additional tools and much more components included.
There is another option, to install it from source:

Inside the zip the are two folders: one is with CodeTyphon source and installation scripts (reworked by me). In other folder are binutils and scripts to install win32 cross-compile.

So, every line of Pascal code surely would give some help to me.
Thanks in advance...

I think even stuff like your "Hello World" Application would help to make me able to get One Step into Lazarus. The older Pascal System that i have had learned and used for many years does not include classes and stuff like that.minesadorada wrote:I'll see if I have any useful code for you when I get a better chance to play.
