Look in the archives, say about five years ago, try Hardware/Beginners/Users. I discussed this in depth. You can either replace your PSU fan with a quality product or clean and re-lube the present one. Use MoS2 grease. A ball bearing fan will last longer but be noisier than a plain bearing. Plenty of choice of designs, makers, bearings, diameters, depths, cuft/min rates, etc. Cpc.co.uk has plenty of models available. You could modify your PSU case, fit a larger diameter fan on the outside if silence and airflow are major concerns. Internal cleanliness is paramount! Clean the PSU twice a year - at least.Sadly that one is more noisy and I hate fan noise.

Lucid 5.2.8.005 Sanity Check
Manual frugal install.
Initial testing.
All updated programs seem to be working OK. No problems.
Abiword and HomeBank help working.
Getflash worked great for getting latest Flash Player. Totally automatic. Very easy to use.
Really nice going to program "about" screens, and having web links work.

Yes, devx is the same. It is listed in the first message of this thread, which I will update upon officially releasing version 005. Thanks.Sorry if I missed it but is the devx the same as for 004?
Good point. By fixing gvfs the web links are working in more programs than just Abiword and Homebank. We done goodReally nice going to program "about" screens, and having web links work.
Could someone test this please: Is Abiword Help and the web links under About working in Saluki, Wary, and Racy? If not I will send jemimah and BarryK the howto details. I have already sent them to 01micko for Slacko. Thanks.
005 updated my installation and everything looks good.
One think I noticed is that in /root/.packages the updated pets are not in the builtin_files but as user installed packages (though not in the user-installed-packages file)
This makes "remove installed packages" and remastering a bit tricky if you want to exclude anything from the main sfs.
I guess because 005 is not a fresh woof build but rather manual update of 528.
Any chance for this to change?
Thx

I was looking at that this morning. A related problem is that some packages show up in /var/log/packages which I made a specific point to clean after radky reported it. Yes, I think this is something that the remaster script does not handle correctly. I might have to just let it go this time, but I might be able to do it manually before the remaster. One think I noticed is that in /root/.packages the updated pets are not in the builtin_files but as user installed packages (though not in the user-installed-packages file)

Add: Yes, i think I can fix it with an acceptable amount of work and *one more remaster*
In Saluki did not work even with the browser open.playdayz wrote:Good point. By fixing gvfs the web links are working in more programs than just Abiword and Homebank. We done goodReally nice going to program "about" screens, and having web links work.

Lupu 528.005 & Lupu Libre 528.005
Released APR 5 2012
The big news is that Help is working in Abiword and Homebank and the web links are working in many (or all) programs Help -> About. More big news is that there is a Libre version with Libre Office 3.5.2 installed and integrated with the desktop and with HPLipLite for increased support of HP printers. Many programs. are updated as listed below. PupMenu is an easily customized program launcher and Get Flash is a better way to install and update Flashplayer. (If you tested the RC or SC, this is new.)

Playdayz,
I'm still trying our your 3 April Sanity Check version -- you are quick!
One thing I have noticed is that stay-connected.sh does not appear to have executable permission in the /root/startup/ directory. Doesn't this need to be executable to function correctly?
If so, it's easy enough for an end user to enable. If not, then I'm barking for nothing! Either way,... I LOVE THIS RELEASE!

Thanks Roy. I think stay-connected.sh would be given permission if you ran Internet -> Stay Connected to the Internet from the Menu.I have noticed is that stay-connected.sh does not appear to have executable permission
Yeah. I updated Lupu Libre about 3 hours after it was released, because I found that Libre Office had updated to 3.5.2 LOLyou are quick!
There seems to be 2 lucid PET packages here
Which of these should our PETs be directly sourced?
Thanks for your continued efforts and help.
